Tonight as I was finishing up a session in the mountains I got a text from one of my oldest friends, Susan, that she is gearing up to spend the night at the hospital to wait for her baby girl to arrive. I have been meaning to share her beautiful maternity photos on the blog and figured now is a great time to finally get these online. I am so thrilled for her and her husband Joe. It is taking all of my restraint to stay at home and let her relax until tomorrow when I finally will get to meet her sweet lil angel. I forced her and Joe to meet up with me and capture some quick maternity portraits over at Crown Hill Open Space back in early October. I couldn't let her get away with not at least getting a small handful of photos of her beautiful pregnant body. What an incredibly special time in their lives. I'm so excited!!!!
About five years ago I photographed a wedding in front of one of the most breathtaking views I've seen in all of Colorado. Jenn and Joe had selected Piney River Ranch near Vail for their wedding. There is a photo we created of them as the sun set in front of that gorgeous mountain view that is still one of my all-time favorites I've ever taken. Jenn wrote to me a couple of months ago to let me know that they are expecting twins! I'm so thrilled for them knowing that in just a few short months their lives are going to change in the most incredible way. There is a really neat park up on the northwest side of the metro area in Arvada called Majestic View Park and it definitely lives up to it's name. When we arrived for the session there was a lot of haze hiding the mountains and I was nervous that the views wouldn't be quite as majestic as they normally are. We were lucky though and by the time sunset came around it had cleared off a little and we were able to capture some photos with the nice view. There is also a nice little garden area at the nature center at this park which we definitely took advantage of. I just love all of the bright colored leaves we were able to use as a backdrop for their maternity pictures.
Congratulations Jenn & Joe! I can't wait to meet your little ones next year!
Iwas lucky enough to get to photograph Jill and Michael during the fall just a couple of years ago in the Aspen area for their autumn engagement session. We went to the Maroon Bells for part of their session and the colors throughout all of Aspen looked incredible for that session. They got married last summer and contacted me recently with the awesome news that they are expecting a new baby soon. This time Jill wanted to get some pretty outdoor snow photos for the maternity session. The weather didn't cooperate for us on our first date so we pushed our session back a little bit. I'm glad we did because we were able to take advantage of the pretty snowy scenery as well as the pretty holiday decor that just popped up in the hotels and streets of Aspen. The colorful lights and glittery ornamentation added a nice touch to some of their photos. They have the best present ever on the way and I'm so glad that we were able to photograph them during this really sweet and special time in their lives.
Emily and Shawn are about to be first time parents and wanted to get some photos created to mark this memorable time in their lives. Steamboat Springs is a special place for them that they really love to visit (Who doesn't? Steamboat is incredible!) so we met up out there for the photoshoot. There are about a bazillion awesome locations throughout Steamboat we could go to, but Emily's friend mentioned that the wildflowers up near Dumont Lake were looking really pretty so that's where we decided to go. The entire hillside surrounding the lake was covered in all kinds of lovely flowers of all different colors. We walked around the lake and made sure to include their adorable mini Australian Shepherd dog, Winston, in some of the pictures. What a smart little cookie he is. He was so good at posing for pictures and would look right over at me for them. He's going to be a great furry big brother to their little girl. Eventually, the mosquitoes were really making our lives miserable so we decided to head out. But, on our way out from the lake I noticed how pretty everything looked from the road and we decided to make a couple last pictures with Rabbit Ears in the background before the darn mosquitoes started to swarm us again. Still, we really did come away with some gorgeous pictures despite those pesky little bloodsuckers ruining the fun.
