Laura and Chase got married in 2011 at a pretty farm in Boulder. It truly does not feel like it was that long ago, but it has already been almost 6 years. I was so excited for them when I heard that they are pregnant with their first child. And of course I was more than happy to meet up and photograph them around the Rino Art District near downtown Denver for their maternity portraits. Chase is quite the shutterbug himself (you can follow him on instagram @cnh.photo) where he shows off a lot of cool architectural and street scene type of photography. Laura mentioned how much they both like the area around Central Market at 27th and Larimer. There is a ton of cool street art all over the place in that area so that's where we met for their session. It's actually been a pretty long time since I have walked around over there (during daylight hours anyway) and it was cool to see all of the new paintings and shops and restaurants that have gone up since I lived in the neighborhood over ten years ago now. A highlight was definitely the alley covered in Stranger Things street art. And I was also pleased to find another geometric mural from Gemma Danielle outside of the Crema coffee shop. I recently discovered her work at a different session from earlier this year and I just love how it looks in my client's photos! We even found a really cool building with some red accent paint that matched beautifully with Laura's awesome red blouse. I'm so glad we were able to get these colorful photos of these two together as they excitedly wait for the little one to arrive.
Elizabeth and Jed are two of my favorite people that I've ever met in roller derby. Elizabeth also has one of the most kick ass roller derby names in all of the land. It's Queen Elizabitch for inquiring minds out there. Queenie came to Rocky Mountain Rollergirls first and later Jed joined as a referee where he met this sassy blonde beauty and fell in love. Sadly, none of us are skating for Rocky these days but Queen actually has a really good excuse now because she and Jed are preparing for their first baby. They are actually moving forward with lots of really awesome big life changes these days. They recently moved into a beautiful new home that was custom built for them just a short drive up I-70 to Lookout Mountain. They're just down the street from the trails at Boettcher Mansion and Buffalo Bill's grave where we decided to do most of their maternity pictures you see here. When I arrived at their home the field next to their house was full of one of the biggest herds of elk I've ever seen. And they have a beautiful view of the mountains looking out from their big back patio. I am so happy for them and I cannot wait to hold their new baby and a beer while watching the sunset this summer. And here's hoping that Sugar (their adorable white kitty who is currently rocking a lion haircut) will jump onto my lap as well!

Wow, it's already New Year's Eve and and I find myself compiling all of my favorite images created for clients throughout the year. This is one of my favorite blog posts to create every year because I get to look back and remember all of the wonderful people I've met. I'm so thankful for what I do and for the trust that is placed in me to capture these family memories for so many. I want to thank all of my clients from 2016 and from year's past for your business. Here's to a 2017 as good as 2016!
Tonight as I was finishing up a session in the mountains I got a text from one of my oldest friends, Susan, that she is gearing up to spend the night at the hospital to wait for her baby girl to arrive. I have been meaning to share her beautiful maternity photos on the blog and figured now is a great time to finally get these online. I am so thrilled for her and her husband Joe. It is taking all of my restraint to stay at home and let her relax until tomorrow when I finally will get to meet her sweet lil angel. I forced her and Joe to meet up with me and capture some quick maternity portraits over at Crown Hill Open Space back in early October. I couldn't let her get away with not at least getting a small handful of photos of her beautiful pregnant body. What an incredibly special time in their lives. I'm so excited!!!!
