Iget to share a really special couple on the blog today. Dan is one of my husband's oldest and best friends and he recently married Jen at Arrowhead Golf Club. Dan and Jen have a storybook romance straight out of a romantic comedy. You see, they first met way back in 1992 in German class at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado. But despite having crushes on each other way back in the day, they never acted on it then. Flash forward about 23 years and they reconnect using the power of the internet (thanks, Facebook!) and start talking again. They end up going on a date and after about a year together, decide to get married. I don't normally get to have this much insight into my couples back story, but because of my husband I got to hear that Dan was the guy from their friend group who all of the ladies always liked (Umm...look at those luscious 90's heart throb locks!) and Jen was the pretty and sweet homecoming queen. I just love stories like this where a couple finds their way back to each other after all that time. It's like coming home. I also love that they chose to get married at what is surely the most dramatic and pretty venue in their entire hometown of Littleton, Colorado. Arrowhead Golf Course is always a pleasure to photograph with its gorgeous rugged red rock formations jutting out from the edge of the foothills. And I love that Jen included her Jewish heritage into their wedding ceremony. They stood under the Chuppah (which they changed to be indoors because of the heat that day), signed the marriage contract (ketubah), and together with Dan both stomped on the glass at the end (my favorite touch which Geoff and I also did at our wedding 5 years ago!)
It was a wonderful wedding day which I was so happy to get to be a part of. I wish Jen & Dan many happy years of marriage together! (And I also hope that they don't kill me for sharing a couple of photos that I stole from Geoff's 1996 senior yearbook! Haha)

As I was prepping the photos for today's wedding preview I realized that the couple featured in the first wedding of the season this year has something very sweet in common with the last wedding couple I photographed last season. And that sweet something is a new baby to add to their families. I love photographing new families and it's particularly adorable when it's because mom and dad are getting married! This darling little baby boy shown quite a bit in the picture below is such a little lovebug. He's mastered the art of waving goodbye and it was so hard to restrain myself from pinching those scrumptious little baby cheeks of his. And his mommy and daddy are such a good-looking and loving couple. They were so lucky that their wedding day turned out to be beautiful since it's always a weather risk when getting married in Colorado in the middle of March. It was so sunny and warm on the day of their wedding that I kept thinking I was photographing a summer wedding. They were married at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church in Lakewood and after the ceremony we headed out to capture some portraits at Red Rocks. Once we finished with those we headed on to the Evergreen lake house where the reception took place. With friends and family at their side and incredibly nice weather it truly couldn't have been a better day to get married! Congratulations to this delightful little family and here's to a bright and happy future for them!
One of my favorites!

Wow, it's already New Year's Eve and and I find myself compiling all of my favorite images created for clients throughout the year. This is one of my favorite blog posts to create every year because I get to look back and remember all of the wonderful people I've met. I'm so thankful for what I do and for the trust that is placed in me to capture these family memories for so many. I want to thank all of my clients from 2016 and from year's past for your business. Here's to a 2017 as good as 2016!
Iam beyond excited to share the photos from this wedding on the blog today. Not just because it's for my friends but because they've waited for their wedding day for so long and they finally made their dream happen. I met Cass quite a few years ago the same way I seem to meet most of my girlfriends (through derby!) and let me tell you, this girl just lights up a room when she walks in. She's loud and wild in a good way and you know she'll always have your back. She's been with Chris for as long as I've known her and they are truly a great match. Chris is a total sweetheart with excellent music taste and I think that Cass's maid of honor really said it best that if Cass didn't marry Chris someone in the family would have to because he is just so loved by all. These two have been together for so many years and they were finally planning for the big day when their sweet little baby girl, Palmer, came along so they chose to postpone the wedding. Palmer did not have it easy her first year of life due to some health issues she was born with but damn she's a little fighter. And she's such a sweet little girl too. She joined in on the festivities of mom and dad's big day making everyone around her laugh. The best part was when she was hamming it up during the cake cutting. These two are clearly loved by so many people and I'm thrilled for them that their big wedding day plans finally came together.
Cass & Chris,
Holy shit, you finally did it;) And you did it really well too. Love you guys! Congratulations!
