elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Bohemian Peacock Wedding | Denver Botanic Gardens Woodland Mosaic Solarium

September 24, 2014

I have a beautiful Denver bohemian wedding which took place in a gorgeous garden setting to share on the journal today. When I first met Natasha & Cash at the Gypsy House Cafe I was struck by how well they seemed to fit together. Some couples just have that feel to them where they just melt into each other when they are close. But it wasn’t just a physical sense that they belonged together. I think they would tell you that they are both a little offbeat and they totally accept each other for who they are. It’s really cool to see that kind of loving approval between two people. And now they’ve officially melded their two families together.

They got married on a gorgeous sunny day at the Denver Botanic Gardens. In the two days before their wedding Denver had a weird cold snap and by Saturday it seemed like the entire city had decided they better check out the Chihuly exhibit at the gardens while the sun was shining. Natasha & Cash visit the gardens often and we had made a plan to walk around the gardens and Cheesman park for some photos before the ceremony started. I wish I could have that much time to create beautiful photos for my clients on every wedding day. They rented the beautiful green solarium in the Woodland Mosaic Garden for their intimate ceremony and the always fantastic Reverend Kim Tavendale presided over the nuptials. It was a short and sweet ceremony and after we finished the formal photos with the family we all headed over to Trattoria Stella’s restaurant on Colfax Avenue. It was really a lovely and laid back affair and Natasha & Cash were able to enjoy cocktail hour with all of their guests since we had finished their photos earlier. The beautiful multicolored glass decor at Stella’s helped add to their peacock jewel-toned bohemian theme too. It was one of the most romantic and magical weddings that I’ve had the pleasure of photographing in my career!

Natasha’s bohemian wedding dress and look was perfect for a Denver bohemian wedding. She wore a beautiful off the shoulder lace dress and a lovely flower crown with peacock colors woven into it. And she let her pretty long hair hang loose too. They incorporated a handfasting ritual into their ceremony which I also felt went really well with their bohemian wedding theme too.

It was so crowded we really only had the chance to photograph with this Chihuly sculpture that day.

Cash and Natasha have a special key for the back gate so that they can get in and out at the Denver Botanic Gardens more easily!

How awesome is it that the painted wall outside of Tony P’s restaurant matched their colors so well?

Loved that they used this little charm on the bouquet since they quoted the Velveteen Rabbit at the ceremony.
