elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Snowy Spring Baseball Themed Wedding | Red Rocks Trading Post in Morrison, Colorado

May 9, 2016

Colorado has stayed pretty true to its reputation this month for having wild mood swings with the weather. Springtime in Colorado is famously unpredictable and you just never know when it’ll decide to throw out one last snow storm. Kat and Carlo have been planning to hold their wedding at the Red Rocks Trading Post, an outdoor ceremony venue, for over a year now. And on the day of their wedding it was chilly and gray with snow falling down. The day before their wedding I heard rumor that the ceremony may be moved to the Hyatt Regency DTC hotel where their wedding reception was to take place due to the wintry-like weather and my heart sank for them. But, I am pleased to report that they chose to keep it outdoors, brave the elements, and it was so worth it because of its beauty. I have to give mad props to all of their family who traveled from Peru and bundled up to take part in the celebration. There was also family there who traveled from Michigan but I assume that they are better acclimated to cold temperatures!

Speaking of Michigan, Kat is a big sports fan (particularly a fan of baseball) and I love that she included the University of Michigan and the Yankees (her favorite baseball team) into her “something blue” with the garter. There were a lot of cute baseball themed influences throughout the wedding décor including her comfy shoes and the seating place cards. Guest names were printed on really cute tickets with the names of different baseball stadiums in place of table numbers with peanuts as a finishing touch of course. And it was really cozy at the Hyatt Regency DTC where the reception was held in the penthouse Centennial Room. The floor to ceiling windows throughout the space showed off the cold blue weather outside while we all stayed warm at the party inside. And it was quite the party! So much merry-making and family reunioning and flat out fun-having. Congratulations to Kat and Carlo!

Be sure to take a look at the WEDDINGS area of my site for more information about wedding photography!
