elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Boulder Mountain Wedding | CO Wedding Photographer Wedgewood on Boulder Creek

June 28, 2017

Alyssa and Trace fell in love with each other when they met at their school’s graphic design club back in Wisconsin. And since moving here they have both fallen in love with the great outdoors of Colorado. They love to go hiking, rock climbing, snow-shoeing, and camping. I follow Alyssa on instagram and it’s epic shot after epic shot of gorgeous Colorado scenery that they find on their adventures. They even had a special place they had picked out for their engagement photos where they like to go rock climbing. I find that pretty awesome considering there are plenty of couples who have no special outdoor place even after living here for years!

I thought it was pretty fitting that the wedding venue that they ended up going with (Wedgewood on Boulder Creek) was nestled right alongside Boulder Creek just into the Boulder Canyon a few miles from Pearl Street. It definitely had a similar vibe to Clear Creek Canyon where we did their engagement photos and I think was the perfect place to share their love of Colorado with all of their visiting friends and family who traveled out of state to come share their special day with them. I absolutely love the Wedgewood on Boulder Creek. Just as it says in their name, the rushing water of the Boulder Creek mountain stream adds a nice ambient noise (not to mention beautiful photo opportunities) and they’ve also done a fabulous job with the gardens and lawn area. I find that the wedding guests always look so relaxed and happy during cocktail hour there. And their open-air outdoor tent is one of the prettiest in the state with billowing white fabric draped across the ceiling and dotted with large beautiful chandeliers. It’s truly a lovely mix of outdoor mountain rustic beauty and formal elegance.

So romantic:) My favorite!
