elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Autumn Wedding in Colorado | Silverthorne Pavilion Mountain Wedding

November 20, 2017

I loved working with the couple featured on the journal this evening. They were a dream to photograph and I really enjoyed their family and friends too! We started off the day at the big beautiful house that they had rented high up on a hill in Silverthorne, Colorado. The gals had taken over the top floor while the groom and his buddies took over the basement after arriving that morning. The rest of the family were scattered throughout with lots of hustle and bustle as you would expect on a wedding day.

After coordinating the first look to be at the front door where I really loved the light we did a few portraits with just Beth and Noah at a nearby trail head. After making sure we included their furry best friend in a few of the photos everyone piled into a shuttle and followed me to our first location. We went to the Lilypad Lake trail head where the yellow leaves of the aspen grove were somehow still hanging on despite it being late in the season. I tried to work as quickly as I could since the weather was starting to get pretty chilly and as soon as I captured some fall color photos for the group we headed off to Sapphire Point to catch that beautiful mountain backdrop for the couple. We had only captured a handful of photos before deciding to call it due to the cold weather.

We all drove over to the Silverthorne Pavilion where we finished up the rest of the wedding prep, family formals, had a couple drinks and prepared to move the ceremony indoors due to the cold weather. Luckily for Beth and Noah the Silverthorne Pavilion is a beautiful space and their floral arch really added a lovely backdrop for their ceremony. It was a short and sweet ceremony and afterward the crowd enjoyed cocktail hour in the huge light-filled main lobby while the crew at Silverthorne Pavilion hustled to turn the ceremony space into the reception hall.

The rest of the reception went off without a hitch with Beth and Noah getting really great quality time with their guests. It was everything a wedding should be! They even managed to coordinate a quick sparkler exit which is not easy to do at a crisp cold Colorado autumn wedding in the mountains! Congratulations to the sweet couple!
