Colorado Summer Vacation Family Photography in Summit County
Every summer I feel incredibly lucky that I get to head up to the mountains to create lots of Summit County family photography sessions for all of the fun people who have chosen to vacation here in Colorado. Most of the people I meet are coming from locations that are really hot and muggy in the summer and I don’t blame them for wanting to beat the heat and come hang out in the high country. We get hot days here too, but as people jokingly love to say “it’s a dry heat.” Plus, after the sun sets, it can be downright chilly in the mountains even in the middle of summer.
This family featured on the journal today hails from the great state of Texas. They have actually visited Colorado many times before and this time wanted to get some updated family photos together now that their youngest is a little older. I loved photographing them because their kids were so sweet and had fun playing all of my little photography games and prompts with me. The funniest thing was when their little guy would smile for me and I could tell it wasn’t quite his real smile. Even though his “fake smile” looked pretty good, mom and dad knew that all they had to do was mention baseball, his favorite sport, and his eyes would light up and suddenly his real smile would come out.
Family Photography at Sunset at Sapphire Point
When photographing Summit County family photography sessions I really like to take my clients to Sapphire Point because the mountain views there are so gorgeous. However, that location is no longer under the radar and can be full of people. So I like to start off the session further down Swan Mountain Road and just get some sunset photos at Sapphire Point toward the end of our session. That’s exactly what we did for this family. We started off in a location that affords a little more privacy for posing and playing games and basically just hanging out having fun as a family before heading to Sapphire Point. I selected a small amount of my favorites to share below!
