Many choose to marry on the historic band shell just east of the pavilion which at one point needed to be rented separately from the pavilion itself. The rules may have changed on that so be sure to check with the city when making your reservation. Beware, due to the popularity and the incredibly affordable pricing of the pavilion and bandstand be prepared to hit refresh on your browser and perhaps wait in a long line on November 1st to score this beautiful location on a popular summer or fall date. It is a good idea to have a list of back up dates as well. I don't know if the ability to reserve this popular wedding location online has changed things, but check out this funny but older Westword article on waiting at the Webb building for the perfect wedding date HERE
Hosting a City Park Pavilion wedding is a perennial favorite for Denverite's looking to get married on a budget. It just so happens to be one of my all time favorite photo locations not just for weddings but for all kinds of different portrait photography. Denver couples love the iconic Spanish style yellow pavilion which is one of Denver's most well known and loved park buildings. It was built in 1882, but the beautiful building we all know and love today was redone in 1929. Today it sits on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It’s easy to see why this Denver wedding venue is so popular. It’s located right in the middle of a huge park with multiple garden areas, picturesque Ferril Lake, and as mentioned that gorgeous yellow stucco pavilion with the cute teal ironwork provides for some pretty fun photo opportunities. It's also open on both sides providing the perfect indoor/outdoor space for couples who want protection from the elements but prefer the feel of an outdoor wedding. My absolute favorite thing about the City Park Pavilion wedding venue has got to be the absolutely stunning views of downtown Denver with the mountains stacked up behind it that you can catch from the east side of Ferril Lake.
