Not long ago, a few of my girlfriends and I attempted to start our own Adult Summer camp here in Colorado. We did a few sessions that were really fun before deciding to call it a day and focus on the businesses we were already running. I always hoped that someone else would continue with the idea because I adore everything about summer camps. I was obsessed with Wet Hot American Summer when it came out and was always drawn to summer camp movies growing up. I wish that my parents had thought to send me to one here in Colorado because I would have loved to go to the Colorado Mountain Ranch which isn’t too far from where I grew up in the Boulder area.
I think the Colorado Mountain Ranch is the perfect place to get married in Colorado if you are a fun-loving couple who are also all about that feeling of the summer camp experience. You always hear about falling in love for the first time at summer camp and experiencing your first real sense of freedom there. Colorado Mountain Ranch is a real summer camp offering day sessions to kids during the summer so this will be an authentic summer camp wedding when you host your celebration here.
There are quite a few things that I love about the Colorado Mountain Ranch. First, it has a ton of rustic charm. Their main lodge house is quite large and historic with all sorts of character inside it’s darker colored old wood walls. The views from it’s large porch just outside of the dining room are lovely and look west out onto the rolling hills and mountains. You and your guests will enjoy sipping cocktails out there during sunset in that crisp mountain air. The last time I photographed a wedding there, I thought it was cool to see that they kept an old piece of metal that burned in a fire close to their camp one year as a reminder of nature’s power as well as a contemporary piece of art meaningful to their location.
Colorado Mountain Ranch also has one of my favorite outdoor wedding ceremony sites in all of Boulder. The outdoor ceremony space is incredibly ideal because there is a view of Longs Peak off in the distance and it’s a short walk to the ceremony area from the main lodge which gives it a nice, secluded feel while allowing your guests to get to enjoy some of the nature in the area as they make their way in. Wedding ceremonies at Colorado Mountain Ranch take place at their outdoor amphitheater so every guest will have a great view of you and your partner as you exchange vows surrounded by nature. The reception dinner takes place in the main lodge where they have long wooden tables with benches for that summer camp feel. I love the cozy rustic wood interior of the space and all of the large windows letting in lots of natural light which is always a plus for your photos. If you want to have dancing at your wedding reception, Colorado Mountain Ranch will clear away some of the tables after dinner and you’ll be able to dance right there in the same space.
Colorado Mountain Ranch weddings are pretty affordable for a mountain wedding in Boulder. They have multiple different options for wedding packages with options for hosting up to 150 guests. I love that they are transparent with their pricing and keep it online for couples to check out prior to inquiring with them but it’s always a good idea to get in touch directly to see what they can do for you. Below is a brief description of the various Colorado Mountain Ranch wedding packages.
Aspen Package at Colorado Mountain Ranch $8,500
This is the full-service wedding planning package they offer that allows you to choose your own outside catering. This option includes professional bartending service and you’ll get help from their wedding coordinator.
Blue Spruce Package at Colorado Mountain Ranch $5,500
The Blue Spruce Package is the option for you if you would like to use your own wedding coordinator and you’ll be able to choose from their preferred catering companies.
Mountain Wedding Ceremony $2,500
If you are just looking for a beautiful outdoor mountain wedding location to host your ceremony only, the Colorado Mountain Ranch allows for that with this package. You’ll be able to host up to 150 guests at your ceremony and can opt to do a champagne toast afterward. This is a great option for those who just want something simple and sweet and don’t mind hosting their wedding in the morning or afternoon between the hours of 9 am-Noon and 2 pm-5 pm. You’ll have access to the outdoor bathrooms and there is parking on site as well. It’s a great option for those who want to have beautiful mountain views in their wedding photos too.
Colorado Mountain Ranch Elopement Package $2,000
I love that the Colorado Mountain ranch also has the option of hosting a smaller, more intimate wedding for us to 50 people at their summer camp. With the elopement package at Colorado Mountain Ranch you’ll be able to host your ceremony from 9 am-Noon and 2-5 pm and afterward you can host a mini wedding reception on the outdoor wraparound patio which is covered. You can bring individually wrapped snacks and have beer and wine but you won’t have access to the interior of the main lodge for your wedding day. You’ll need to count your wedding vendors (It’s always 2 when you hire me because I bring an assistant) in your guest count but this is definitely one of the more cost effective micro-wedding locations I’ve come across for the mountains of Colorado.
I hope this brief overview of the perks of booking Colorado Mountain Ranch for your wedding has been helpful. It’s definitely worth a site visit as it’s only a 10 minute drive west of Boulder.
