Aspen CO Family Pictures at Maroon Bells During Summer
I had the pleasure of photographing not just one family at Maroon Bells last week, but two! Today I get to share another awesome family on the journal and the fun photos we created together at Maroon Bells which is about a 25 minute drive from Aspen on Maroon Creek Road. This year they are doing reservations in order to keep the number of visitors down due to Covid-19 so if you are hoping to visit yourself, be sure to check out the website HERE where you can make reservations for sunrise, daytrips, evening trips and even overnight stays at Maroon Bells.
Similarly to the other session I had that week down in the Pitkin County area, we were a little apprehensive about the weather. I actually came a little close to rescheduling because I couldn’t quite tell what the rain wanted to do that evening. But, since it wasn’t super windy, I decided it was worth at least trying. I definitely prefer to cancel or reschedule sessions when it’s too windy over any other type of weather. Light sprinkles are workable, crazy hair flying all of the place is not. It started off a little bit gloomy looking with the cloud coverage (although it make for some nice even light to work with) but the gray cleared up a lot by sunset and we even got a glimpse of some light blue skies toward the end. This family was so much fun to photograph. They weren’t too shy about playing along with my games and prompts and we got some really cute photos of them laughing together in this gorgeous place. And right at the end as we were finishing up the session, a beaver was swimming in the lake right behind them and we got to watch him swim around and hold his breath underwater for an impressive amount of time. We also saw a couple of deers prancing along the big open field while we were there too. I’m still waiting to see a moose at Maroon Bells one day, fingers crossed.
