The Grant Humphreys Mansion is a large historic home sitting on top of the hill at Governor’s Park right in the center of Denver. This 30 room mansion was designed in the Beaux Arts Style which was popular at the time it was built in 1902. From the time it was finished, the home was the site for many society teas, dances, dinners, and receptions and continues to this day to be a beautiful location for hosting parties and weddings. In 1976 it was designated a Denver Landmark and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
The home has many gorgeous features with its main attraction being the sheer beauty of its impeccably decorated façade and gardens. If you’re the kind of bride who fantasizes about gorgeous southern style weddings at a location with a rich history, this is one of the only reception locations in Colorado that can give you that sort of feel. The inside is tastefully decorated with three large levels. One of my favorite parts of the house is the large beautiful bridal suite painted a lovely pale yellow with beautiful white crown molding. There is also space for the men to congregate across the hallway. The main level features various open rooms, parlors, and wide open hallways that guests meander through and the space also holds tables for a sit down dinner reception. The mansion can host up to 200 guests and to the south of the house a huge patio terrace provides more room for dinner guests on a lovely summer evening. When it’s time for the dancing to begin, friends and family make their way into the basement where they can dance the night away in the large ballroom.
Despite the luxurious and elegant feel of this mansion (not to mention its extremely convenient central location) it’s surprisingly affordable. Rental rates are between $1,500-$3,700 depending on your wedding date. The rental for a New Years Eve or New Years Day wedding is $4,600 for Fridays & Saturdays, and $3,500 for Sundays or Weekday Dates on New Years. These prices include 7 hours of time with tables and chairs included in the rental rates. Dancing must be moved indoors by 9 pm to respect the neighbors and you can rent this historic mansion until 12 am for most weddings (with an exception for New Years Eve which allows a 2 am end time). Extra hours may be purchased for $200 per hour.
