I have a beautiful session full of Niwot Senior Photos to share on the journal today. My little sister Chelsey and I are going to spend 25 days together traveling around some different countries in Europe. We are leaving in just a couple of days and we are so excited to have some sister time on such an exciting trip. She and I are 10 years apart so we haven’t done a ton of traveling together because she was still pretty young when I grew up and left the house. But now she’s grown up and in college and we thought it would be fun to reconnect again as sisters on a trip like this.
But moving on to the reason for this post….there are some good things about being the oldest of seven kids. It means that some of my brothers and sisters still have friends who are in high school who need to get their senior pictures done. I obviously spend most of my time photographing weddings, but I love photographing high school seniors when I get a chance. It’s such a nice change of pace:) Plus I can attempt to pick up new slang and whip it out on my unsuspecting younger siblings who have been telling me “You’re pretty much 30” since I was about 25 years old;) Chelsey is friends with Hannah who is going to be a senior this year and needed to get her pictures taken care of. So we met up this week for her Niwot senior photos. As with every other day this week I was a little scared that we might have to cancel since it was raining pretty heavily down here in Denver. But the skies over Boulder looked nice and blue and so we went for it. We started off at the Pearl Street Mall (leading up to the session I kept accidentally calling it the “16th Street Mall” which would prompt Hannah to tell me that she wanted to do her pictures in Boulder which would then confuse me because I was certain we had already discussed that we would indeed be doing them in Boulder lol) In any case, Hannah was such a natural in front of the camera. She is absolutely beautiful and she was even more comfortable in front of my camera once we left Pearl Street for a field on the South side of Boulder. I had used this same field for approximately 10 seconds last summer before abandoning it due to the ridiculous amounts of mosquitos and I was worried that it would be much of the same this time. I’d love to tell you that this time it was totally bug-free, but alas we ran into just as many of those lil blood-suckers as I had last year:( But Hannah was such a trooper and we just doused ourselves in bug spray and tried to work quickly. I’m glad we did because I love what we captured over there!
Hannah,
I hope you have the best year of high school ever! I remember how I just could not wait to be out of high school and out in the world on my own. This time goes by so fast though. Make sure you make the most of it:) And break a leg when Les Mis comes around!
xoxo

Dang, that light + that face = Awesome!
She’s smiling because she hasn’t been devoured by the mosquitos yet;)
I so wish I had looked like this in high school!
I love this one. I can’t decide if it’s my favorite, but it is for sure up there. I just love how sweet and shy she looks here!
