Riverbend is another one of my very favorite wedding venues in all of Colorado. The first time I photographed there I had a serious case of venue envy and wished that I had known about this beautiful location before I booked my own venue. Riverbend is located right along the banks of the Saint Vrain River just west of the downtown area of Lyons. If you’ve ever driven to Estes Park from the Front Range, you’ve likely driven right past this pretty little place and never realized it. It’s hidden from the main road with lots of trees providing some nice privacy and greenery. When you arrive at Riverbend, you’ll drive past a row of adorable tiny homes from WeCasa which are available to rent so if guests want to add on some simple and convenient overnight accommodations right there at your wedding location, they can! The most beautiful feature is are the huge red rock cliffs that tower over you right next to the river. These epic rock walls help make for some beautiful and dramatic photos for sure.
In addition to the tiny homes on site, there are few things that I think make Riverbend stand out as a wedding venue. The most obvious is that it’s just a beautiful riverside location with lots of room to roam. But beyond the beauty of this location there are some other practical things I really think are nice for hosting your wedding here. The first is that they do allow you to bring in your own alcohol as long as you hire a professional bartender to serve it. This allows for a pretty good savings especially for those hosting larger weddings. Speaking of larger weddings, Riverbend can host up to 200 guests on their spacious property. They also provide a parking attendant and have plenty of space for your guests to park. When there is no fire ban, they have a large stone fire pit right next to the river and they start the fire for you providing a lovely hang out zone for those who need a breather and want to catch up with old friends away from the dance floor. One potential downside at Riverbend is that they only have a soundsystem available for the wedding ceremony and the toasts and after 5:30 pm the only music allowed is acoustic. So if you had your heart set on a DJ bumping the latest hits well into the night, this is probably not the venue for you. They do have an interesting workaround of booking a silent disco where everyone wears headphones.
As with most Colorado wedding venues, Riverbend charges for their wedding packages based on the date that you’d like to book. They only book weddings at Riverbend from mid May through Mid-October. For 2021, Riverbend wedding packages are $7,500 for Saturdays, $6,500 for Fridays and Sundays, and $6,000 for weddings that take place Monday-Thursday.
The prices go up for weekend dates in 2022 and Riverbend wedding prices will be $9,000 for a Saturday wedding, $7,000 for a Friday or Sunday wedding, and $3,000 for Monday-Thursday weddings.
Since this property is so large, I thought it might make sense to show some of the different areas and talk about them in their own section of this article so that you can decide if a site visit at this pretty Lyons area wedding venue is worth a trip. They are also offering a nice virtual tour on their website too if you want to save yourself a trip.
Riverbend has two great getting ready areas on site so you and your partner will have room for getting ready on your wedding day. One is a cottage with good natural light and lots of unique furniture in it and the other is a cool glamping yurt with a wood floor and plenty of seating and mirrors as well as electricity. These two spaces are pretty far apart from each other as well so you shouldn’t have any issues with running into each other before your first look or wedding ceremony.
Speaking of the ceremony, I really love the look of the ceremony set up with your guests facing the beautiful red rock cliffs and river in the distance and trees on both sides making it feel super intimate and private.
There is a large white sailcloth tent with a solid floor and string lights throughout providing a pretty atmosphere throughout the evening. The tent space can seat up to 200 people inside and Riverbend has enough tables and chairs for all of them.
When I got married, I was obsessed with having an outdoor dance area because I wanted to dance the night away under the stars. (Nevermind the fact that weddings don’t always go according to plan and it ended up pouring rain and we danced the night away inside a big white tent, haha) I love that at Riverbend you have the option to do just that with their really cool, large flagstone patio space that’s located right next to the river and has pretty string lights hanging overhead to provide some warm ambient light too. It’s a very fun and romantic atmosphere to host a dance party. Not far from the dance floor space is the super unique bar area which is built around a huge evergreen tree with pretty lanterns hanging from it’s branches.
I hope these photos and descriptions have been helpful and that they’ve inspired you to go take a look at Riverbend for yourself. I’d love to be your Riverbend wedding photographer. I’ve photographed here before and I’ve been photographing weddings in Colorado since 2006. Feel free to take a look at the WEDDINGS page of my site and get in touch to tell me more about yourselves and your wedding plans!
