Once upon a time I would have said this is hands down the place out of all of my wedding venues listed that I probably know like the back of my hand because it’s the church I grew up attending when I lived in Longmont. (It’d be a toss up between this church and the Longmont Public Library which is directly across the street and I spent many afternoons waiting for my mom to pick me up from there too!) The Longmont St. John’s Catholic Church has changed quite a bit though since I regularly attended mass there with my family. They completely reconfigured the area at the back of the church which now acts as the front entrance since it’s built to welcome everyone from the huge parking lot behind the church. Now people don’t have to walk all the way around to the old front entrance to get inside which is nice for those with mobility issues. I also really love the walkway with all of the nice gardens that they’ve added which I’ve had success using for some simple portraits on wedding days. Still, the interior of the main church has not changed much from what I remember. It’s a large church with simple red brick walls and some pretty stained glass on the sides. You’ll have plenty of space to host as large of a wedding ceremony as you want.
Most catholic churches have some requirements for getting married inside their church. Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church also has some requirements for preparing for the sacrament of marriage. They require 8 months notice so that you can take their classes and plan for the requirements of getting married there. Please be sure to get in touch with the folks in the church office directly to get more details about the marriage preparation at St. John’s.
