Website: Snow Mountain Ranch Official Wedding Website

Snow Mountain Ranch at YMCA of the Rockies is the perfect wedding venue for couples who are planning a destination wedding in Colorado. Particularly if you’re looking for a place that can easily entertain and accommodate guests with a range of different budgets. It's about an hour and a half from Denver so it's a convenient mountain wedding destination to get to for enjoying the majestic Rocky Mountains. There are a ton of activities at Snow Mountain Ranch for your wedding guests who want to stay a little longer for some vacation time. Snow Mountain Ranch is located halfway between Granby and Winter Park which have plenty of options for accommodations. But the YMCA of the Rockies actually has a lot of different places for your guests to stay on-site which is great for weddings that choose to serve alcohol! They have traditional hotel style rooms as well as both large and small family cabins. They even have group camping for the more adventurous guests who want a true outdoor Colorado experience.

Snow Mountain Ranch has so much to offer your wedding guests and it’s a great way to have an affordable destination wedding. One thing I love is that the Snow Mountain Ranch is pet friendly and only charges $10 per pet per day which is a steal compared to most other pet-friendly accommodations. Snow Mountain Ranch would not be described as a luxury place to stay, but it is clean and well kept. Besides, it’s known for providing a ton of fun and family friendly activities either for free or for affordable rates. They offer a mini golf course, indoor pool, tennis courts, hiking and biking trails, fishing, craft shop, lawn games, roller skating, ice skating, cross country skiing, sleigh rides, archery, ropes courses and so much more! Your guests will run out of vacation time before they run out of fun stuff to do here!

Unfortunately, Snow Mountain Ranch removed a lot of the wedding information from their website so you’ll want to reach out to them directly to find out how much a Snow Mountain Ranch wedding costs. It’s possible that they’re revamping some of their wedding policies and planning procedures during the time of covid since that section of their website is a little sparse at the moment. I do know that Snow Mountain Ranch has long held a reputation for being one of the more affordable Colorado mountain wedding options in the entire state. So it’s a good place to inquire with if you are a couple on a tighter budget.

Options for where to host your wedding ceremony and reception at Snow Mountain Ranch are seemingly endless. They have simple indoor lodge spaces as well as rustic log cabins, open air pavilions, and classic white tent options at quaint historic sites too. One pretty neat feature about this Colorado wedding venue is that they’re really flexible at Snow Mountain Ranch and do allow hosting ceremonies in other parts of their ranch not already designated as wedding sites. So if a bride and groom have a particular area that is special to them they may be able to host their ceremony there (for example, I photographed a wedding ceremony at the Program Fire Ring during summer which isn’t featured on the following list) But, if you aren’t sure where to begin, You can start by looking at hosting your wedding at one of the locations below at Snow Mountain Ranch.

One option is Columbine Point which has a capacity of 250 guests. This area is like a large outdoor church with a large wooden cross for folks of the Christian faith as well as plenty of long wood pew style benches. Available at the Columbine Point only is an option called the Mountaintop Toast. The folks at Snow Mountain Ranch will host an intimate post ceremony toast at the gazebo at the back of the ceremony with enough glasses for up to 150 guests. This is such a fun and easy way to get the party started.

A similar option for those who may be looking for a less overtly Christian setting is the Wildflower Outdoor Chapel. This area has similar bench style seating like the Columbine Point location but the altar area features a unique wooden teepee arch.

Another gorgeous outdoor setting available at Snow Mountain Ranch is the Rowley Homestead which can also double as a reception site if you add a white tent for cover. This area of the YMCA works especially well for vintage or rustic inspired weddings due to the incredible old log cabin style structures sprinkled throughout the area. When I photographed a wedding at the Rowley Homestead, I was particularly fond of the barn with wheels decorating the sides. There is also an old large weathervane which definitely adds to the charm of this historic site.

Similar to the Rowley Homestead is the Just Ranch historic homestead area of Snow Mountain Ranch. Wedding ceremonies can be held here next to historic old barns and a meandering stream all with stunning mountain views.

There are also options for hosting your wedding indoors. The largest is the Whispering Pines Chapel which can hold up to 250 guests. This structure features exposed pine beam ceilings and was built in the round.

For smaller weddings there is the Upper Caudill Center which has a stone fireplace and a grand piano.

In addition to the variety of options for ceremonies listed above, the YMCA has plenty more choices for hosting receptions. Larger weddings may need to stick to the Legett Building which can hold between 200-250 guests. It's one of the more lavish spaces offered at Snow Mountain Ranch with wood floors, chandeliers, & a deck featuring a view of the Continental Divide.

For those who have 150 guests or less, the Schlessman Commons area of the YMCA of the Rockies may be a good choice. This space has lower ceilings and exposed wood beams which give the space a more warm and intimate feeling. I have also photographed smaller simple wedding receptions at the Schlessman Commons Pavilion at the back of that building. There are beautiful mountain views near there!

Some smaller, more intimate weddings require an even cozier space and the Adam's Summit might just fit the bill.

The Rowley Homestead is not the only space at Snow Mountain Ranch that can host a tented wedding. The Indian Peaks tent site can also host a wedding reception of 150 guests. A big plus to this tented area is the access to the Indian Peaks Lodge indoor restrooms.

Lastly, some brides are looking for something a little more informal and of course Snow Mountain Ranch has them covered here too. The Mountain Air Cookout Shelter is a long open air style building with gorgeous views and picnic style tables. It could be just what the doctor ordered for a bride looking for something a little more casual.

I hope this has given you a good starting point in learning about hosting your wedding at Snow Mountain Ranch. You’ll definitely want to reach out to them directly to find out more about what they can do for you. And if you are searching for a Snow Mountain Ranch wedding photographer, be sure to take a peek at the WEDDINGS page of my site and reach out. I would love to chat with you about your wedding plans!
