The St Julien Hotel & Spa is a beautiful wedding venue right in the heart of Boulder located just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the Pearl Street Mall. This is one of the nicest hotesl in all of Boulder County. Your guests will have a blast staying here for your wedding weekend with the outdoor beauty of Boulder at their fingertips and the fun nightlife on offer within walking distance. Because I’m a photographer, I love all of the huge glass windows found throughout the hotel letting in tons of natural light. And the interiors are impeccably designed with a classy, modern feel. The outdoor space is not too shabby as well with various terraces featuring views of the Flatiron mountains and a large grassy lawn where you can set up your ceremony under the bright blue Colorado sky.
There are many perks to hosting your wedding at the St Julien Hotel and Spa. One that I really love is that you and your wedding party can take advantage of the on-site spa to relax or prep for the big day. There are also multiple different restaurants right on site making it easy to plan for a welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, or farewell brunch and keep everyone right there at the hotel. However, if your guests want to leave to explore what Boulder has to offer, they also have a complimentary shuttle that will take them anywhere within a 2 mile radius of the hotel. And of course, the thing that this hotel is known for is it’s fabulous 10,000 square foot full service spa which includes a beautiful indoor pool and hot tub area.
The St Julien Hotel and Spa doesn’t keep up to date pricing information online so you’ll have to contact them directly to see what they have available for you. This is actually one of the places I considered hosting my own wedding (which was back in the spring of 2012 so this price information is definitely dated at this point so please only use this information as an extremely rough idea of what to expect regarding pricing) but when I inquired back then it was a $10 fee per guest ($600 minimum) plus a 20% service charge to host a ceremony there with the expectation that Friday and Saturday ceremonies must reserve St Julien for their reception too. I am not sure if they still offer a standalone ceremony option with a reception hosted elsewhere. The food and drink minimum was $15,000 for a Friday wedding, $18,000 minimum for a Saturday wedding, and $8,000 minimum for a Sunday evening reception. I was told to expect to spend between $125-$145 per guest. Again, this information is quite old and it’s best to contact them directly to get the updated 2021 wedding prices straight from the horse’s mouth so to speak.
Here is a very brief overview of what you can find for the various indoor and outdoor wedding and event spaces at the St Julien Hotel in Boulder. Please get in touch with the hotel directly to talk about what configurations will work best for your wedding.
The Xanadu Ballroom at the St Julien is a classic wedding ballroom with a tall 14 foot ceiling and warm lighting. It has over 4,000 square feet and can host up to 300 guests when doing a banquet style wedding reception. The Xanadu Ballroom can also be broken down into smaller sections. Xanadu Ballroom 1 has 1,232 square feet and hosts 90 guests. Both Xanadu II and Xanadu III are equal in size with 1,428 square feet and host 80 guests.
If you want to keep your wedding outdoors, the Red Garden Court is a beautiful space tucked away and private surrounded on 3 sides by the pretty stone walls of the hotel. It has a lot of trees and has views of the gardens. The Red Garden Court is about 2,000 square feet and you can host up to 50 people at a reception there.
The Red Garden Lawn is an absolutely beautiful space to say your vows in. You can opt to decorate the large pretty white domed gazebo structure and have guests face that direction toward the hotel, or you can opt to turn it the other way and have the mountains off in the distance. Normally I would say go for the mountain view, but there is a busy street just outside of the hotel garden walls and I’ve found that it can be tricky not to get cars in the photos when photographing in that direction so I prefer ceremonies facing the hotel. The Red Garden Lawn is 2,400 square feet and you can fit up to 200 guests both for a ceremony and a reception there.
If you’re hosting a smaller wedding, you can also opt to rent out just Terrace spaces in the Red Garden outdoor area. The Lower Terrace is 1,830 square feet in size and you’ll be able to host 80 people there. The Upper Terrace is a bit smaller at 580 square feet but would make the prettiest little reception area for an intimate wedding of 30 people or less.
Speaking of smaller, more intimate affairs, the St. Julien Hotel has some smaller indoor room options you might be able to use for various wedding related functions. All three of these rooms are located right across the wide hallway next to the Xanadu Ballroom space. Both Calypso and Fandango rooms are 560 square feet in size and can host 30 people. The Tagger Room is more like a little boardroom type of space with 280 square feet and room for 14.
