There is an appeal for many Colorado couples to get married on top of a mountain and there are not many locations that can compete with both the views and the ease of getting there than what Vail Resort has to offer with their outdoor wedding decks on the mountain. They also have some of Colorado’s most luxurious and beautiful reception spaces available in the entire state. If you’re looking for something with a little old-world, European style charm meets rugged outdoor beauty, you have to take a look at Vail Resort for your wedding celebration.
I’ll be honest, most of the wedding location options available at Vail Resort are not cheap. But, they are all so beautiful and unique that it’s hard to pass them by when looking into hosting a wedding at a ski resort in Colorado. There are a couple more “budget-friendly” options so the pricing range is quite far apart. You’ll spend anywhere from $500-$10,000+ on site fees (as well as gondola/tent fees) and another $95-$250+ per guest on the catering. I have done my best to outline a rough idea of what you’ll spend for each of the Vail resort wedding venues below.

The Holy Cross Event Deck is one of Colorado’s most beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony locations. It’s located at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola and is just a short 5 minute walk to get to the stone amphitheater and even those who are hosting their wedding receptions elsewhere from Vail Resorts can rent this Vail wedding deck from the resort for their ceremony. The views from the amphitheater are truly glorious and it has to be so exhilarating to say your vows at the top of the mountain in Vail. The Holy Cross Event Deck can seat around 180 guests who are all sure to be awed both by the gorgeous surroundings and your beautiful vows! The deck is so high on top of the world (it’s 11,564 feet in elevation) that it’s only available from mid-June through mid-September so be sure to look into booking it early. They rent it out for anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 in short 2 hour increments starting at 10:30 am and ending at 6:30 pm. (Hot tip, if you can swing it, hosting your wedding at the 6:30 time slot will give you the nicest light since you are closer to sunset!)
One of the nice things about Colorado is that we don’t get a lot of rain outs on a wedding day. But we do get sudden fierce thunderstorms that roll in fast and usually leave just as quickly in the afternoons during the summer. So be prepared for the Gondola to stop running for a short while if there is lightning. You may find yourself stranded for a bit, but it’s usually not a problem since Bistro Fourteen is located right there and ready to save the day with some snacks and drinks while you wait. You may want to build some time into your wedding day schedule for this because it’s a fairly common occurrence. After your one of a kind ceremony set in the outdoor splendor of the Holy Cross Event Deck, Vail Resorts has multiple venues where you can finish out the night. So be sure to ask them to recommend the perfect place for your wedding reception party.
Getting married at Arrabelle Square is perfect for couples who want the feel of stepping into their own old-world style fairytale wedding story. It’s located in Lionshead Village and is surrounded by buildings that look reminiscent of a historic European village and it even has cobblestone style walkways that help give this luxurious Vail wedding venue a taste of that old-world charm. Your reception will take place in a white tent with a clear roof so guests will dine and mingle underneath the stars and the twinkle lights of Lionshead Village. This is one of Vail Resorts most luxurious outdoor wedding reception options and it’s only available outside of ski season during the warmer months from late May-mid October. You’ll be able to host up to 200 guests at an Arrabelle Square wedding and it’s available from 5-10 pm. The site fee will cost anywhere from $2,500-$3,500 depending on your wedding date. Vail Resort has a tent package from $7,250-$9,250 and catering will run from $140-$170 per person.
Cortina weddings are another option for hosting your celebration at the Arrabelle. The Arrabelle is full of stunning interior design (um, hello herringbone ceiling next to the grand staircase! LOVE!) and your guests will be impressed with the sheer luxury of it all. Vail Resort weddings often host cocktail parties and receptions in the grand staircase space and then move you into the ballroom for the dinner and dancing. I love the simple, yet high-end feel of the Cortina ballroom space with it’s damask printed carpeting and light wood wainscoting, and the large wide chandeliers that add a ton of elegance. This is an indoor wedding venue option in Vail and is therefore available year-round. It’ll be at your disposal from the hours of 6-11 pm and can seat up to 150 guests with a dance floor. A Cortina Wedding at the Arrabelle costs a minimum of $1,500 for the site fee and the food and beverage is between $140-$170 per person.
Speaking of that old-world charm I mentioned finding at the Arrabelle in Vail, the Great Room has it in droves. It reminds me of one of those huge, luxurious rooms you find in castles and chateaus when touring in Europe. It feels enormous with its tall ceilings covered in wood and there is a huge fireplace as the focal point on the wall opposite the wall of windows. Hanging from the ceiling in this space is a large, beautiful chandelier adding a bit of sophistication to the space which otherwise, might feel like a normal cozy mountain chalet. Right outside the doors of the Great Room is the Terrace where you can opt to host a wedding ceremony or a cocktail hour. The views of the Eagle Bahn Gondola and Vail Mountain from this terrace are incredible! I could see this being a great outdoor option for those who want to share the splendor of Colorado’s outdoor beauty with their out of town guests but are worried about the elevation up at the Holy Cross Event Deck. This space is also available year-round so those who really want to host an outdoor winter wedding at Vail Resort should definitely look into booking the Terrace along with the Great Room for their wedding celebration. It’s available between 5-10 pm and you’ll be able to seat up to 60 guests there. The site fee is between $1,000-$3,000 depending on your date and the catering will run anywhere from $140-$170 per person minimum.
Moving away from the wedding options at The Arrabelle, you’ll also find The 10th, which is Vail Resorts newest wedding venue located at the top of Gondola One. This is the perfect Vail Resort wedding location for couples who both want to get married and host their reception on the mountain all at one location. It’s a lovely, modern lodge (think of the look of the Donovan Pavilion, but with MUCH better views!) and you’ll enjoy the enormous floor to ceiling windows looking out at the Gore Range. I can’t get over how perfectly situated the outdoor deck is for ceremonies overlooking the Vail Valley and all of the stunning mountain views beyond. I’m in love with this Vail wedding venue! As with most ski resort wedding venues, The 10th is only available outside of ski season during the warmer months in Colorado between mid-June through mid-September. You’ll be able to book it between 5-11 pm and you can host up to 185 guests there. The site fee is anywhere from $4,500-$8,000 depending on the date of your wedding and you’ll also pay a gondola fee of $4,500 to transport your guests. It’s a 5 star restaurant too with food and beverage options starting at $215 per person.
If you were hoping to host your wedding reception up on the mountain in Vail, you can also consider hosting at Eagle’s Nest which is located at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola and is the closest wedding reception venue you’ll find to the Holy Cross wedding deck. Eagle’s Nest is a teensy bit more budget friendly than The Tenth and is a much more simple space with little orb-like chandeliers hanging from its ceiling. Like the Tenth, it does have great views and you’ll be able to host up to 250 guests at this old-school ski resort space. It’s only available outside of ski season from mid-June through mid-September and you’ll spend at least $2,500 on the site fee depending on which date you go with. If you book during September, you’ll also pay the $3,750 gondola fee. Eagles Nest wedding reception dinners are some of the least expensive you’ll spend at Vail Resort weddings at around $110 per person.
At the base of Gondola One is a place called Game Creek Restaurant and you can host a wedding reception at this cozy fine-dining establishment. I love the cozy feel of this space despite it actually being quite large. It has lots of wood beams, vintage outdoor snow gear decorating it’s walls. It also has a nice wall of huge windows letting in some great natural light while also providing views of the ski slope. You can even walk outside onto the deck right outside of those windows to take in some fresh mountain air along with the views. This classy restaurant is only available outside of ski season from late June through early September and you can rent it between 6 pm-11 pm. It’s a good size for a medium sized wedding of up to 125 guests with a dance floor. The site fee is a minimum of $2,000 and the food will be at least $215 per person at this esteemed restaurant wedding venue in Vail.
The Lodge at Vail International is another incredible wedding venue location at Vail Resort. Since I’m a photographer, I’m always 100% all about the light when considering wedding venues and one of my biggest beefs with some ballrooms is that they’re like dark caverns (which can be cozy and cool-looking in their own right, but are definitely trickier to photograph) so my favorite thing about the Lodge at Vail’s International Ballroom is that it’s so light and bright compared to most ballroom wedding venues. Many ballrooms have an elegant but dated look to them and the Lodge at Vail has a completely different, more modern look to it. It’s also quite large and you’ll be able to host up to 250 guests with a dance floor here. This large indoor ballroom space is available year-round too, so those of you who wanted to host something during winter so that your guests can get in a little ski time should definitely consider the International Ballroom at the Lodge at Vail. You’ll be able to book it from 6 pm to 11 pm and the site fee is $1,500 minimum. The catering options will run you about $140-$170 per person to start.
For those who do really like the cozy, log cabin style feel over a modern ballroom, The Lodge at Vail also has Cucina restaurant which is an incredible indoor/outdoor space that can host up to 100 guests. I really love Cucina as an option for weddings because it’s garden courtyard is just so filled with plants and is quite beautiful. And when you head indoors, it has vaulted triangular wood ceilings that provide a lot of character. And it also has a huge wall of windows with views out onto the courtyard and the garden spaces outside. It’s also available year-round so another good option to consider if you were hoping for a winter wedding in Vail. (Although, obviously, the beauty of the courtyard gardens won’t be there during that time of year). Cucina weddings are available from 6 pm through 11 pm and you’ll spend $1,500 on your site fee here. The food and beverage pricing runs from about $140-$170 per person.
If you’ve sighed reading through all of these options because the price points have been a bit outside of your budget, you may be happy to read about this final wedding location available from Vail Ski Resort weddings. The Express Lift is Vail Resort’s answer for those looking for a more budget-friendly option when hosting their wedding in Vail. The Express Lift is located at the base of Gondola One on the east side of Vail Village and has lovely mountain views. It has a large outdoor deck and it could be the perfect option for you if you’re looking for a more casual environment for your wedding celebration in Vail. The site fee here is $500 depending on your wedding date and you’ll spend at least $95 per person on your catering. Oh, and this space is available year round so it’s a great budget wedding option in Vail for those who want to do a winter ski wedding celebration!
