Boulder Creek by Wedgewood Weddings is a gorgeous place to get married in Boulder. In fact, it’s one of my favorite Boulder wedding venues because it’s so darn pretty here. It’s located just west of downtown Boulder and the Pearl Street Mall, about a 10 min drive up Boulder Canyon and nestled on the banks of Boulder Creek. I think my favorite thing about this venue is that it’s so close to a rushing mountain stream. The sound of the water flowing adds to the romantic feel of a wedding day. I love that this Boulder wedding venue has a lot of different spaces and options for hosting the different parts of your wedding like your getting ready part of the day, the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and the reception. All of the unique spaces are close together making it convenient but also have distinct separation making it feel extremely spacious.
This pretty mountain venue has been around for quite a long time too. In fact, I have been photographing weddings here since before it was a Wedgewood Weddings property and it’s always been high on my list of favorite wedding venues along the Front Range. It’s full of nature and the beauty and charm of being a mountain wedding venue, while also being located very close to a major city which makes it more convenient than your average mountain wedding venue. It’s a simple, quick drive for guests making it a convenient stay overnight at a hotel in Boulder and a simple Lyft ride to your nuptials. (Although, I should warn that I’ve had spotty cell service in this area in the past so that may be an issue for guests attempting to schedule a ride back into town!)
Unfortunately, Wedgewood Weddings by Boulder Creek do not share their pricing online. With weddings, there are often too many variables to give generic pricing quotes. However, they are known as a company who try hard to accommodate all kinds of wedding budgets so it’s definitely worth reaching out to them directly to see what they can do for you and your wedding plans.
As mentioned above, Boulder Creek Wedgewood Weddings have a ton of cool, different areas at this unique riverside wedding venue and I thought it might be nice to show pictures and describe each of the spaces you’ll find at this pretty mountain wedding venue in Boulder. When researching this article I perused Wedgewood Weddings Boulder Creek’s website to familiarize myself and see if anything has changed since I was last there and I noticed that they have shared some photos in their gallery with mountain views at locations that I know were not created at this site. I know lots of couples are planning from out of town and may not be familiar with this venue so I thought it prudent to mention that you will not be getting mountain views at Wedgewood Weddings Boulder Creek and those mountain pictures in their gallery were taken elsewhere. Wedgewood Weddings at Boulder Creek is in a mountain canyon next to a river so that makes it almost impossible to also have mountain views at this particular location (although at certain angles you can sort of get the tips of the canyon in the frame). If it’s important to you, I’m happy to try to come up with some ideas for getting some mountain views for you on your wedding day or at your engagement session if the timing isn’t right on the day of your wedding.
So, I don’t want to call out Wedgewood Weddings at Boulder Creek because it’s pretty standard for wedding venues to offer gendered getting ready rooms which in the past I never thought about, but now realize don’t make sense for every couple. In fact, I remember when shopping around for my own wedding venue, I often felt like I preferred the “Grooms” getting ready room either due to the light offered in that space or just the fact that the room looked more fun than the “Bridal Suite” offered with pool tables/foosball etc… The gendered getting ready rooms at the Wedgewood at Boulder Creek aren’t as overt as other venues but they do have two rooms and let’s just say one of them has a foosball table, amazing light, and lots of space, and the other does not. So choose which one of you gets the room with the best light wisely, haha!
For those hosting larger weddings, you’ll need to set up your ceremony on the large grassy lawn with the beautiful stone arch. The large green lawn ceremony space at Boulder Creek Wedgewood Weddings can fit up to 250 guests. The lawn ceremony area has a beautiful stone arch way as well as a permanent stone aisle to prevent sinking into the grass. Wedgewood Weddings at Boulder Creek uses nice simple white folding chairs for their outdoor wedding ceremonies. For those who are hosting smaller, more intimate weddings, a ceremony by the river might be a good option, especially if you prefer a more rustic and nature-filled setting for your nuptials. The configuration is a bit more narrow in order to fit everyone next to the river but it’s absolutely gorgeous. You can read more about this area below. Adjacent to the lawn there there is a large stone patio which is connected by a walkway to the ceremony lawn area and leads all the way to the terraced arch. This patio is a really nice size and has the space for cocktail table and comfy patio furniture too so that guests can relax and enjoy the surrounding gardens and gas fireplace at the center of it.
The grassy little riverside lawn area at Boulder Creek is my number one favorite area of the entire Boulder Creek wedding venue and that’s really saying a lot because this entire area is pretty awesome looking. But, I just love that feeling of being right there next to the water and how peaceful it sounds as it goes rushing past. I’m not 100% sure how many guests can be seated down by the river but it roughly looks like they can generally fit smaller weddings around 50 guests in this area. Definitely check with Wedgewood Weddings directly to find out the max seating for a ceremony next to the river. Since the last time I photographed at Boulder Creek, it looks like they’ve added a stone walkway to create more of a permanent ceremony space, which I have mixed opinions about. Yes, it’s probably nice for couples to walk down a stone path versus walking across grass that is probably muddy a bit too often. But, I also just loved the simplicity of a nice grassy area for pictures in this area.
They’ve also added a pretty aspen tree trunk arch which I really like that adds some definition to the space for ceremonies. There are two ways to get down to this area by the river. One is a gently sloping grassy hill that you walk down from the east side of the venue and the other is a set of steep wood stairs that were built along the rocky cliffside closer to the west side of the venue. Boulder Creek Wedgewood Weddings also have string lights hanging overhead which I love because I think they add just a touch of whimsy to this area. This small section of the property with its wide, grassy riverside path is by far my favorite area to use for couples portraits on a wedding day. There is a gorgeous plant-covered rock wall and a ton of little nooks and crannies. It’s so green and reminds me of something straight out of an Irish or Scottish fairytale. This part of the property is a bit narrow to use for group photos, but if the groups aren’t too large it could probably be done in this riverside area.
You have options for hosting your reception at the Wedgewood too. Right next to the ceremony lawn is a huge open air white tent with gorgeous chandeliers hanging from its ceiling. In the warmer months the tent is opened up on the sides and when it’s chilly the sides can be closed to keep the heat inside. At the far end of the tent there is a rustic wood accent wall and the floors are a nice, simple, earth-toned concrete style material. I’ve seen this tented area set up with round tables, but I really love that they also have these beautiful long wood tables that can be used as well. Wedgewood on Boulder Creek really makes it easy for your wedding to look like it just stepped out from the pages of a popular wedding blog. They provide a lot of the foundation necessary for you to pull off a truly beautiful wedding.
You can also opt to hold your reception and ceremony inside the historic inn which would be a great option for those hoping to host their wedding during the winter here in Boulder. There is a room with a couple of fireplaces with great ambiance and the dancing portion of the reception generally takes place in the large round room toward the front of the inn. There are big picture windows in this Octagon-shaped space so guests can take in the scenery. There is also a nice stone accent wall which can make a nice backdrop for indoor weddings at Boulder Creek Wedgewood.
I hope these photos and descriptions have given you a nice idea of what Boulder Creek Wedgewood Weddings venue looks like. I highly recommend this place and hope you decide to schedule a site visit with them. And of course, I would love to be your Boulder Creek wedding photographer.
