Inside the Woodlands Barn Reception Venue in Colorado
The inside of the Woodlands barn feels really large because it has super tall ceilings and the wood walls have been stained white which allow the wood grain to show through and provide a touch of rustic charm to this fairly modern space. One end of the barn has large glass double doors at the entrance with a wide hallway and buffet table which you can use for decor or some sort of welcome book signing area. To the left and to the right at the entrance is where you will find the bathrooms and both getting ready rooms. As you continue to walk inside the barn it opens up with soaring ceilings with black beams and string lights hanging overhead. To the left is a built in bar and doors which lead out to the covered, heated patio area. Straight ahead you will find the enormous barn doors that open up to the south lawn ceremony space.
Woodlands is a beautiful barn wedding venue tucked away in the foothills of Highway 285 and is a super convenient mountain wedding venue for couples who want to stay close to the Denver metro area. It only takes 35 minutes to get to this lovely barn venue from Downtown Denver so if you have guests traveling in from out of town, they can enjoy all that the city has to offer and still get a chance to enjoy some time in the actual mountains on your wedding day. Woodlands wedding venue is located on a 52 acre mountain property in a pretty pine forest setting with some mountain views too. What I really love about Woodlands weddings is that you can blend the charm of a barn wedding with the more modern and updated look that this brand new barn has to offer. Some barn wedding venues are a bit dark and dreary on the inside or they are a little too rustic to be comfortable. That is not the case for the Woodlands Barn. The outside of the barn is painted a clean bright white and the inside wood walls have been whitewashed which really brightens up the space. I also love that it has huge barn doors that open up on one side of the barn allowing access to the fresh air and mountain views. This is a great venue for couples who want to host a larger wedding too. Many Colorado venues have a limit of 200 guests on the high end with only a small amount able to accommodate much more than that. But, Woodlands can host up to 245 guests during the regular wedding season and up to 200 during the off season.
Some of the other main information couples should know about hosting their wedding at Woodlands is that they have up to 60 parking spaces but require a shuttle for weddings over 150 guests. Woodlands also requires an insured wedding coordinator and also provides that service in house for an extra $1,450. They have 11 different catering companies for you to choose from at a variety of price points and you’ll be required to use Peak Beverage for your bartending needs. They also use Event Rents exclusively for any rental equipment you need for your wedding but if they don’t offer a particular item you need you can rent from another company. You may be allowed to bring your pet onto the property to include them in your wedding, but you’ll have to get prior approval for that from Woodlands.
One more thing that I think couples should know about is that Woodlands has a pretty great solution for fireworks called “Sparktacular” that they offer to couples. This is something that I think really sets them apart from other mountain wedding venues since most do not allow sparklers or fires of any kind due to the fire restrictions we often have in our mountains. The Sparktacular is a cold spark technology that can be used indoors (first dance anyone?) or outdoors and during fire bans. They cost $800 for 2 of them and last for 30 seconds.
Woodlands Wedding Venue has two general seasons, the off season and the prime wedding season with prices lower during the off season. Weddings are not available to be hosted during December, January, or March. The regular wedding season is from May through October with a slight discount for weddings hosted during the month of May. The Woodlands wedding cost will be $9,500 for a Saturday during the regular wedding season and $8,000 for weekdays, Fridays, and Sundays. If you host your wedding during May, you’ll get an extra $500 off of those prices.
February, & April is considered the off season at Woodlands wedding barn. The off season wedding prices for Woodlands wedding venue is $7,000 for Saturdays, and $6,000 for other days of the week. Woodlands wedding venue also offers a 10% military discount so be sure to check with them directly to find out more about that.
*Please note, The Woodlands is unavailable from January-March 2022 for renovations. Woodlands Barn will be adding a larger bridal suite in a separate nearby building and another restroom!
Below I have some information about all of the different locations and spaces you’ll find at the Woodlands barn wedding venue. I’ll go over the spaces you have available to you inside the barn as well as the defined outdoor spaces you can use as well. Woodlands has a really great mix of rustic outdoor rugged mountain land and bright and airy modern interiors with soaring ceilings.
Let’s start by describing more of what you’ll find inside the large main white barn space at Woodlands wedding venue. Below are some photos of the interior of the barn.
Woodlands Barn Getting Ready Suites
Not every wedding venue has a getting ready space to offer couples and this is especially true for many barn wedding venues. But at Woodlands, they offer two distinct getting ready spaces for their couples. Their getting ready spaces are more traditionally gendered with one clearly meant to be a bridal suite with a makeup counter and mirrors and the other being more of a hangout zone with a large blue felt pool table. But I would say both spaces are pretty equal in size and both have pretty great natural light too which is a plus since many venues shove grooms into tiny, badly lit areas. And I would say both spaces are fairly neutral with the decor which is also a plus. Some “bridal suites” are extremely frilly but you won’t find that outdated style at this beautiful barn wedding venue in Colorado. I love the subtle gold accents found in the decor and the really tall ceilings in both rooms are great!
Woodlands Cocktail Hour Venue Spaces
I think the Woodlands has a super cute and fun cocktail area space. If you are inside the barn and step out from the double doors you’ll find yourself on a covered patio with rocking chairs and wine barrel tables. This space has outdoor heaters so if you get nasty weather on your wedding day, you’ll still be able to host some of it outdoors. Beyond this covered patio space there is a little ramp leading down to a medium sized lawn area with nice pine trees on the side of it. There is a fun wood wall which I can see being creatively decorated with plants and other florals or items that show off your personal style. And there are large wine barrels sprinkled throughout for guests to use as cocktail tables. And there are also a couple of hanging wicker egg chairs for added comfort and flair. It’s the perfect hang out zone for playing lawn games and enjoying cocktails while your guests wait for you to finish your wedding photos. Guests can even hang out in these nice spaces prior to your wedding ceremony if they arrive early.
Other Outdoor Areas at Woodlands Wedding Venue
I briefly wanted to point out that there is a steep little ramp that takes you down a hill from the ceremony lawn to a more nature-filled woodsy area which is perfect for portraits. I love the little rocky outcrop with mountain views and think it could be perfect for first looks or for some sunset portraits.
I hope that this overview has helped give you an idea of what you’ll find at Woodlands Wedding Venue. I highly recommend scheduling a site visit and speak with the lovely family who own this property. I’d love to be your Woodlands wedding photographer! I’ve been photographing happy couples here in Colorado since 2006. Please check out the WEDDINGS page of my site and get in touch to tell me about you!
Woodlands Lawn Ceremony
When you walk through the huge double barn doors you will find yourself out on a sidewalk with a small ramp that leads down onto the grassy ceremony area. The lawn at Woodlands is a bit more of a wide space than it is deep. I love that Woodlands offers 4 different ceremony arches to choose from so you can really customize the look of your ceremony to your personal style. And there are nice views of the pine forest and hilly mountains beyond.
Now that we’ve talked about what you’ll find inside the barn, let’s go over some of the neat outdoor spaces that Woodlands wedding venue has to offer couples.
