elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Denver Family Photographer | Autumn at 17 Mile Farm House Park

17 Mile Farm Family Photos During Autumn in Colorado

I am so excited to share these beautiful fall color 17 Mile Farm family photos with the world today. You guys want to know one of the best feelings you get when you are a photographer? It’s when you are somehow able to win over a small, shy child who didn’t want to have anything to do with you at the beginning of a session. About five years ago now I photographed Tiffany and Scott’s wedding which took place at her aunt and uncle’s pretty house in Cherry Hills. Tiffany recently called me up and I found out that in the years following their wedding they had a little daughter and a son too. They were hoping to get some family pictures taken with a rustic old barn style location. I had driven by the 17 Mile Farm Park on my way to another session recently and thought that it would work well for the style of location they were looking for.

When they arrived, Emmy and Cooper weren’t super psyched to get their photos taken. Emmy in particular was acting a little shy and hiding away behind her daddy’s legs. When our first picture wasn’t going how we wanted we decided to just go for a little walk to give the kids some more time to warm up to the idea of creating these 17 Mile Farm family photos. We found a fallen tree and Emmy’s adventurous spirit started to poke it’s way out and before I knew it she was literally giggling with me on command! It also didn’t hurt that I keep a stash of stickers in my camera bag. I’m not above a little bribery, people! We finished up our session over by the red barn and when it was time to go home Emmy wanted to give me a hug before leaving. I certainly wouldn’t have expected that from a little girl who didn’t want to look me in the eye just two hours before. I drove home that evening with a warm and happy feeling for sure:)
