elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Longmont Colorado High School Senior Photos

July 1, 2013

I have some downtown Longmont senior photos to share with the world today.  These Longmont senior pictures are very special to me because they feature my youngest brother. I am the oldest in a very large family and the youngest in our clan is turning 18 in two days which means I am officially old now;) When I was 13 years old my baby brother Damien was born. We have a very different relationship than I do with my siblings who are closer to my age. Mostly because he was only 6 when I moved out of the house to start my adult life. So we didn’t grow up with the joy of fighting and getting in each other’s hair. And I mean joy when I talk about the fights my siblings and I would have. We were the kind of kids who loved to be rough and tumble with each other. The kinds of kids other parents would have turned their noses up at and wondered “Who is watching these ruffians?” Except that no one would ever have said that about us because we were expected to behave in public. They would have said it if they looked over our fence in the backyard! But my baby brother was different. I loved to be with him and what kind of a teenager would I be if I was hurting the poor lil thing? No, Damien got airplane rides and tickles. He would crawl into my bed to take naps when he could and I loved cuddling on the couch with him while we watched cartoons. That’s not to say that I don’t give him the big sister treatment now by calling him “Lame-ien” or barrage him with questions or attempt to tell him what to do with his life every time I see him just like the overbearing sisters in Adam Sandler’s movie, Punch Drunk Love. But when you don’t grow up everyday in the same household together you just inevitably do not develop the kind of intimate relationship that comes from being involved in each other’s every day minutia. And I crave having that kind of familiarity with him. But of course, for a teenager this translates into just being an annoying older sister. I can only hope that after he is done with his senior year and moving on into adulthood himself that he’ll look back and know that I just love him:)

Damien plays football for Niwot High School and I tried to convince him to wear his jersey for a couple of the shots but he wouldn’t have it. For these Longmont senior photos, we walked around downtown Longmont which I have to say has gotten much cooler since I lived there. They actually just got done wrapping up the movie Dear Eleanor and I couldn’t help but notice the fun art mixed with old buildings in the area. We finished up the session at one of my standby classic photo locations in the area, Old Mill Park.

Damien,
I hope you have a really great senior year of high school. Work hard and cherish all the days you have left with your friends. It goes by in a blink of an eye and before you know it you will be moving on to the great unknown that is adulthood.
xoxo

How cool is this old fashioned mailbox? And there is an old book store that has these book sculptures built into the alley wall behind their store.

And now all grown up!

He likes being serious.

Here he is when he was just a little guy.

And here we are on my wedding day last May. (Photo by Yan Photo)
