elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

High School Senior Photographer during Winter at City Park in Denver Colorado

December 16, 2018

City Park Senior Photography

Today on the journal, I get to show off a really fun City Park senior photography session I did this past week with Kinri. She’s a high school senior here in the Denver area and likes to spend time at Denver’s best public park, City Park! She showed up to her senior session at City Park with her brother and I really enjoyed spending time with the both of them. Kinri has such a friendly personality and is quick to smile and I think her personality really shines through in these pictures. I also always love to meet other readers. I was impressed that she’s reading Catch-22 right now and enjoying it because I remember attempting that one when I was her age and I just wasn’t able to get into it. She’s inspired me to try and give it another go now that I’m older and more patient in my reading life.

Winter Senior Photos at City Park

We started off using the large stone gates over at the 21st and York street exit area of City Park which was fun because I haven’t photographed on that side of the park in the long time. I had them follow me through the winding one way streets through the park to take advantage of getting the historic yellow pavilion in the backdrop as well as heading over to the east side of Ferril Lake for some pretty sunset views of the city skyline with the mountains stacked up behind Denver. There is also a really neat sculpture on the south side of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science that I really love to use as the sky turns a pretty deep blue at dusk. I think these photos of Kinri prove that all you need for beautiful winter season photos is to photograph at the right time of day. It didn’t even matter that there was no snow to help beautify the landscape. And of course, it definitely helps when your subject has a winning smile too!
