Aurora Reservoir Family Photos in Colorado

Family Portraits at the Beach of Aurora Reservoir

I am thrilled to share this session full of beautiful Aurora Reservoir family photos today. I met this family of five with 3 sons and their sweet doggie at one of their favorite family hang out spots at the Aurora Reservoir. They live nearby and spend a lot of time hanging out at the beach near the water together so it made sense for them to get their family pictures created at this favorite spot of theirs. I’ve never been to the Aurora Reservoir before and I was pleasantly surprised by how beach-like and sandy it was near the water where we were. Lots of my friends have taken up stand up paddle boarding this summer as a way to beat the heat and stay outside during the pandemic and I’ve heard good things about this nice body of water out in Aurora. So it was great to come out and see it for myself while meeting this nice family.

Family Beach Photos in Colorado

I had so much fun hanging out with this family at their photo session. I got there first to take a look around and see what might look good and had them meet me down by the water. We started off using the greenery of the tall grasses and desert plants nearby before heading closer to the water and taking our shoes off for some more casual beach photos for them. Love that we were able to catch both the intense red sunset light as well as the softer pink light as the sun set that evening. Their boys are all such great kids and told me about their favorite sports that they play as we walked around the area exploring together. It was really a nice relaxing evening and I LOVE what we were able to create for them. Check out my favorite family portraits from their Aurora Reservoir beach session below!
