elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Summer Camp Wedding Photography | Colorado Mountain Ranch in Boulder

September 28, 2016

Colorado Summer Camp Wedding

I am so excited to share this cool Colorado summer camp wedding on the blog today. I never had the opportunity to go to a real summer camp as a kid and I was obsessed with the idea. One of my all time favorite movies is Wet Hot American Summer and I had multiple favorite summer camp themed movies as a kid. (Heavyweights anyone? What about Camp Nowhere which I recently watched again and it surprisingly still stands up pretty well)

Needless to say, when Lauren and Galen told me that their wedding celebration would be taking place at a summer camp in the mountains of Boulder, CO I was pumped! Colorado Mountain Ranch is a beautiful place for a wedding. It’s pretty high up in the mountains and it has beautiful views from the big covered wraparound porch at the Ponderosa Lodge. I loved the simple rustic feel of their wedding day. The ceremony took place in the big outdoor amphitheater where guests sat on benches smelling the fresh mountain air and enjoying the view of Longs Peak in the distance. And the Pondersosa Lodge where the reception dinner and dancing was held was the perfect setting for a wedding with its log cabin style giving it a nice intimate and cozy feel. Instead of an official first dance Lauren and Galen opted to do a cute rendition of “Baby, it’s Cold Outside” before opening up the dance floor for the evening. It was a fun touch and different from anything I’ve seen before at a wedding!

This was a pretty neat fireplace decor because the owners of the ranch found it after the huge fire that came through the property a handful of years ago.
