elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Denver B’nai Mitzvah for Twins

June 27, 2020

At Home B’nai Mitzvah for Twins in Denver Colorado

I’m featuring a unique Denver B’nai Mitzvah service for twins today. This is a very special family featured on the journal today. We’ve been in touch about their B’nai Mitzvah plans for quite some time now. They were supposed to host their big day on April 18th, but as we all know, Covid-19 blew into town and essentially destroyed everybody’s plans for this spring. This poor family was literally all set to host a large party at the JW Marriott after the service at Temple Emanuel and with only 3 weeks to go, ended up having to cancel the service and postpone their party plans. There’s no way to rosy this up, and it completely sucks for them. However, they did reschedule their B’nai Mitzvah service to an at home celebration that they streamed live for their friends and family instead of taking the risk of gathering them at Temple Emanuel.

Hosting a Bar Mitzvah at Home during a Pandemic

This Denver Jewish family ended up being quite resilient and adaptable and decided to go ahead and think outside of the box for their B’nai Mitzvah service. They opted to set up a laptop to stream their service live at their home in Denver. It ended up being simple and cozy right there in their dining room and they had me come over to take some portraits of them all dressed up. I love that they decorated their front yard with the red and blue color scheme they were planning to use for their original party plans and they even had a red and blue balloon arch which we used for some of their portraits. I especially love that with hosting their B’nai Mitzvah at home they were able to get some pictures with their sweet dog too. I’m sure this day wasn’t exactly what they had envisioned when they first started planning, but I am so glad they were still able to celebrate these two and all of the hard work that they’ve done to get to this day during a pandemic. Huge props to them for their stoicism throughout. I very much hope that they still get to have a fun party with everyone gathered in the future!
