elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Jewish Wedding in Colorado | Wedding Photography at Arrowhead Golf Club

June 23, 2017

I get to share a really special couple on the blog today. Dan is one of my husband’s oldest and best friends and he recently married Jen at Arrowhead Golf Club. Dan and Jen have a storybook romance straight out of a romantic comedy. You see, they first met way back in 1992 in German class at Heritage High School in Littleton, Colorado. But despite having crushes on each other way back in the day, they never acted on it then. Flash forward about 23 years and they reconnect using the power of the internet (thanks, Facebook!) and start talking again. They end up going on a date and after about a year together, decide to get married. I don’t normally get to have this much insight into my couples back story, but because of my husband I got to hear that Dan was the guy from their friend group who all of the ladies always liked (Umm…look at those luscious 90’s heart throb locks!) and Jen was the pretty and sweet homecoming queen. I just love stories like this where a couple finds their way back to each other after all that time. It’s like coming home.

I also love that they chose to get married at what is surely the most dramatic and pretty venue in their entire hometown of Littleton, Colorado. Arrowhead Golf Course is always a pleasure to photograph with its gorgeous rugged red rock formations jutting out from the edge of the foothills. And I love that Jen included her Jewish heritage into their wedding ceremony. They stood under the Chuppah (which they changed to be indoors because of the heat that day), signed the marriage contract (ketubah), and together with Dan both stomped on the glass at the end (my favorite touch which Geoff and I also did at our wedding 5 years ago!)
It was a wonderful wedding day which I was so happy to get to be a part of. I wish Jen & Dan many happy years of marriage together! (And I also hope that they don’t kill me for sharing a couple of photos that I stole from Geoff’s 1996 senior yearbook! Haha)

Below: Dan and Jen’s high school senior portraits + Jen as Homecoming queen + thespian Dan as the crow in The Snow Queen:)
