Just a little over a year ago (almost to the date!) I photographed Jess & Stefan’s Steamboat Springs wedding. Danny & Heather were a part of their wedding party and now one year later they got married in Steamboat Springs as well. This time the venue was the Bella Vista Estate which has some breath-taking views of the Yampa Valley and overlooks Lake Catamount. It was a gorgeous, hot summer day with everyone in high spirits. There are so many highlights from their day that it would be impossible to describe them all, but I would say that Danny & Heather’s personal vows that they wrote for each other are definitely one of the biggest highlights. I found out that Danny is a fan of NPR (me too!) and that Heather is committed to improving social justice. The more I found out about who they are, the more I liked them:) I also absolutely adored their vintage wedding style. The way they incorporated each of their family histories into the decor (personal stories about family members accompanied old photographs at each table along with flower-filled teacups from each of their grandmother’s personal collections) really helped to tie in the fact that weddings are all about bringing family together and starting a new branch along the family tree. Oh and of course, when Danny & Heather requested that the DJ play this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CI2IJ9FBb-Y and the members of Jess & Stefan’s wedding party all jumped in and re-enacted the choreographed dance they did at their reception last year, well…that was truly something special:) I can only hope that at their 50th wedding anniversaries they all remember the moves so they can do it again!
