Family Vacation Photos at Shrine Pass in Vail Colorado
I am excited to get to share this lovely family portrait session I did just last week up at one of my favorite locations near Vail. This family traveled all the way from Minnesota to share the beauty of Colorado’s mountains with their kids for the first time. We decided to go big or go home in selecting Shrine Pass for their session since it has some of the most spectacular mountain views near Vail. It’s also over 11,000 feet in elevation up there so you get the full light headed experience hanging out up there. They were game to do a little hike up into the rocky areas to catch these views and I can say that even growing up here I am always a little out of breath walking around at that elevation. But, it was totally worth it. I also couldn’t believe that there was a beautiful gray bird just following us around and hanging out. He kept flying close by (probably looking for us to give him some snacks) and even landed on my camera bag and my softbox at one point. I had just posed their kiddos together on a pile of red rocks when that little birdy decided to drop into their backdrop and pose alongside them. I had my fingers crossed hoping the bird might do something like that but really didn’t think it would happen. So when he decided to grace us with his presence I just started snapping away. This sibling photo has got to be one of my favorites in recent memory because of this. I love when we get lucky with the wildlife like that!
If you’re planning a trip to the Vail area, be sure to take a look at the Families page of my site and get in touch for more information on getting your family photos created while here. Perhaps you’ll get lucky with a cute wildlife photo for your family too!
