elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Business Headshot Portraits at Industrial Warehouse with Exposed Brick

February 23, 2020

Business Headshot Photography Inside Shyft at Mile High

I’m excited to share this cool indoor headshot session I got to do with Amy a few days ago.  She works for a builder here in Denver and needed some updated business headshot portraits that she could use for some marketing pieces she’s about to print.  And she was looking for a location that was a little bit urban and relating to construction since that’s the business she’s in. But, she also didn’t want to do them on an actual construction site since she didn’t want to wear a hardhat in the photos, haha.  It’s also the middle of winter so it’s a good idea to look around for some indoor options we could use anyway just so we wouldn’t have to fight rescheduling around all of the cold and snow we’ve been getting this year.

Indoor Business Portraits Created at Shyft at Mile High

That’s where Shyft at Mile High comes in.  They were so kind to allow us to use their space for these portraits if we donated to their awesome nonprofit.  They host inexpensive yoga classes inside their space and you can find the schedule HERE. They also rent out their gigantic indoor space for events like weddings and meetings.  Their space is inside the Steam on the Platte building which is right down the street from where Meow Wolf is planning their big Denver expansion. I actually live over next door to the Sun Valley neighborhood in Villa Park and I have seen lots of plans and buzz around the changes that are coming to this industrial area nestled between the South Platte River and I-25.  I ride my bike over here a lot and it’s interesting to see the changes coming in real time. The inside of Shyft’s space is really neat with both black painted brick walls and some lighter white brick walls. There are huge windows letting in tons of natural light which was perfect for Amy’s headshot portraits. I didn’t even have to set up my own lighting for these! The industrial warehouse look was perfect for her photos since she’s in the building industry and I love what we were able to create for her that day.  Check out a small selection of some of my favorites below!
