elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Colorado Family Photographer | Mountain view at Crown Hill Open Space in Lakewood

May 31, 2016

One of the best parts of being a wedding photographer is when the couples I photograph keep in touch and I get to see their little families start to grow and change. I photographed Kerry and Eric a few years ago at their wedding in Boulder and I was so excited when they let me know that they were having a baby last spring. Now their sweet little baby girl is one years old and they wanted to get some family photos taken together. They told me about a place near their house called Crown Hill Park which I had no idea even existed which is weird because I’ve been scoping out locations and lived in Denver for a long time now and this place is pretty huge. After they mentioned it, I did a quick drive by since it’s not too far from me and I knew it would be the perfect location for their family photos. It’s a huge place and not only is there a lake, but there are multiple tree-lined pathways with tall grasses and the best part is the ridiculous view of the mountains. It is quite the hidden gem and I have to thank Kerry and Eric for clueing me in to its existence. Due to the sun setting later and later these days and with 1 year old babies having early bedtimes we shortened our session to take place closer to sunset since we weren’t sure how long Ashlynn would last that late at night. She was such a little trooper and we managed to get some smiles along with her serious looks too. She’s just learning to walk as well and I love the photos we were able to get with her experimenting with her new skill of walking and standing by herself!

Be sure to take a look at my FAMILIES page for more information about getting your own family pictures created!
