elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Family Photography with Baby in Evergreen Colorado

October 14, 2019

Family Photography with Baby on Squaw Pass Road

I love this family photography with baby session I did last month. This adorable family with the cute baby featured on the journal today is special because I used to skate with that sweet little boy’s mama.  We did roller derby together at the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls for years. Neither one of us do roller derby anymore (although I still love going skating outside on my own)  I’m thrilled for her that in the years since we skated together, she’s started her own family. Her baby, Julian, is 7 months old now and full of adorable smiles. He was a total dream baby to photograph.  He was in a great mood and was just so sweet. It’s not always easy to get babies to have any interest in looking at the camera but he was all smiles and was interested in me and my camera even when I wanted him to interact with mom and dad!  I also love his teensy little boots that his mom bought for him just for this session.

Cute Baby at Family Photography Session in the Mountains

We hit the Beaver Brook Watershed trail head on Squaw Pass Road for these pictures.  I love this location and I’ve been convincing all of my clients we should go there to take advantage of the pretty autumn scenery.  We were treated to a gorgeous evening with great weather. Thankfully, it wasn’t too windy or chilly since that is often the type of weather I run into when scheduling in the mountains during September.  We got to enjoy all of that pretty autumn color without freezing our buns off which I always appreciate. And I think Julian and all of his smiles definitely appreciated it. Nothing ruins a family photo session with a baby present more than ugly cold weather.  It ended up being a gorgeous evening with a beautiful, dramatic orange sunset. It was hard for me to narrow them down with all of the cute baby smiles to choose from but somehow I managed to pick out the ones below.
