Bold, Colorful Colorado Mountain Maternity Portraits in Evergreen
This is one of the most gorgeous Colorado mountain maternity sessions I’ve ever photographed! I first met this cute couple at their wedding just 6 years ago. Their wedding just happens to be one of my most memorable as well because a freaking black bear literally almost walked down the aisle right in the middle of their wedding ceremony. And I’m using the word “literally” as it’s intended. Like that really almost happened. Seriously, if you want to read more about that you’ll have to check it out HERE.
As cool as it was to finally get to see a real live black bear (I’ve lived here almost my whole life and that was the only black bear encounter I’ve ever had) I am happy to report that we did not stumble across any at their maternity photo session. Shannon mentioned to me that she was looking for some “ethereal” maternity pictures which I interpreted as an enchanted forest look with lots of pretty sunshine peeking through the trees. We actually had to reschedule these for a day later due to a total downpour on our original day. Thankfully, we got lucky with our reschedule day and the sun was actually shining making this whole gorgeous backlit look possible for them.
Romantic Ethereal Maternity Photos at Mount Falcon Trailhead
Originally I was worried that my bold and colorful style of photography might not make the most “ethereal” looking photos since I sometimes imagine ethereal to mean almost a “gauzy” kind of light. However, if you look up the word in the dictionary, it means this: “extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world.” So yeah, that 2nd part of the description really speaks to me and I think we were granted the most incredible glow of sunshine at this session to fulfill that perfect light description.
The outfits that they chose to wear also really helped create a gorgeous mixture of bold color and dreamy warmth from the sunshine. How perfect is Shannon’s fuschia colored dress paired with that nice pop of blue from Chris’s jacket? And of course, the trail on the west side of Mount Falcon is a dream forest location. There are plenty of evergreen trees there providings lots of nice greenery year round and during the summer there are loads of pretty wildflowers dotting the grassy fields. We truly couldn’t have picked a better Colorado Mountain Maternity photo location!
