Today on the blog, I am sharing a birthday party event that I had the pleasure of photographing in early July. It’s a bit of a change of pace from my typical family and wedding type of work. I would describe it as almost a cross between the two since I did get to capture some family portraits before dinner started on Friday night. But it was mostly candid photos from two family dinners here in the Denver metro area. Jack’s wife, Mary, contacted me because her husband was celebrating a major milestone birthday and their family would all be together from across the country to celebrate with him. The first evening would be a family dinner with the grandkids up at Carrabbas in Louisville, Colorado. We got some photos of the grandkids with their parents and with Grandma and Grandpa as well as the whole group together with Jack’s siblings.
Saturday night was just for the grown ups at the very nice City Grille restaurant at Larimer Square in downtown Denver. They reserved a private dining room there and It was a really nice relaxed evening on both nights with sweet, sentimental gifts for Jack and lots of reminiscing on the good times they’ve all had together. It’s exactly the kind of birthday party I hope I get to have when I turn 70. Celebrating with longtime best friends and my family by my side as we enjoy excellent food and drink. After dinner, I had them follow me down to the end of the block where we could get a great view of Larimer Square with all of the city buildings and string lights in the background. We finished up by capturing some fun portraits for the family and couples in that beautiful summer night setting in the Mile High City!
Happy Birthday, Jack!
