elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Denver New Year’s Eve Wedding at Coohills

January 24, 2023

Why New Year’s Eve Weddings are so special

I have a beautiful Denver New Year’s Eve wedding to share on the journal today. In the wedding world, we often know when a date will be popular because humans love to have some special meaning or importance in their wedding date. It often will be some sort of palindrome type of date like 2/22/22. But, I say that deciding to get married on a date where people traditionally let go of the old year and celebrate the beginnings of a new year is the perfect backdrop for celebrating a wedding. Afterall, what better way to symbolically usher in a brand new marriage by celebrating it alongside the beginning of a brand new year? By the way, 12/31/23 is one of those super fun dates AND it’s New Year’s Eve so you might want to go ahead and snag that date for your own wedding!

Downtown Denver Restaurants Make the Perfect Place to Host a New Year’s Eve Wedding

Downtown Denver is the place to be for a New Year’s Celebration and there are a multitude of stylish, beautiful restaurants and bars where you can celebrate your NYE wedding. Buying out a restaurant space is often a more economical way to host a wedding and many downtown restaurants would be happy to cater to your wedding celebration plans. That’s exactly what Geoff and Cleo did for their Denver New Year’s Eve wedding. They chose Coohills which is a Denver restaurant with lots of experience hosting wedding parties and receptions. We started off by catching the last bit of daylight we could for some of their wedding portraits with their family before transitioning into their indoor wedding ceremony. After the ceremony the couple and their guests had time to unwind with some drinks during the open bar cocktail hour before settling in for dinner and toasts. Later on after I left for the night they had a band to help them party until the midnight hour NYE countdown. Below are just a small portion of some of my favorite photos we created together on their NYE wedding day.
