Stormy Wedding Day at Historic Woodland Mosaic Solarium
I’m super excited to share these rainy wedding day photos on the journal this evening. You all may remember how rainy our spring was this year which definitely helped my garden look pretty awesome until the overnight heatwave came along to destroy the nice spring vibes. I was enjoying that brief rainy season we had here in Denver until it just would not stop at Stephanie & David’s Denver Botanic Gardens wedding. Usually it’ll rain here and there and then the sun busts through the clouds but not on this wedding day. It felt like it rained the whole day. And it wasn’t that light nice sprinkle type of rain. It was full on super wet monsoon style rain. The poor wedding party was trying to stay dry under umbrellas until they could get inside the beautiful vintage green solarium in the Woodland Mosaic Garden where David and Stephanie would be exchanging their vows. I know what it’s like to have rain on your wedding day since it rain an absurd amount at my wedding reception. But, I have to say, it does give a really romantic, cozy vibe so even though I was nervous about protecting my gear, I didn’t mind it so much.
Wedding Reception at Denver Botanic Gardens Orangery
Stephanie and David were supposed to host their reception at the solarium at the Woodlands Mosaic Garden, but due to the rain, their reception was moved over to the Orangery. This was my first time getting to photograph a wedding there and I really love that space. It’s a long narrow greenhouse with huge glass garage doors that open up to a large concrete sidewalk patio area. It was a bit chilly on their wedding day so they opted to keep the doors closed, but I could see this area being a pretty awesome indoor/outdoor reception space on nicer days. After they had a chance to spend time with their friends and family, eat some lunch, listen to some toasts, and cut the cake, we used our last hour together to walk around the gardens creating some gorgeous garden wedding portraits for them. I was so happy that the rain had finally decided to take a break during this part of the day so we didn’t have to keep them under an umbrella the entire time. I absolutely love the photos we were able to create together! Check out this collection of my favorites below!
