elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Roaring 20s Vintage Wedding at Skylight

November 16, 2021

Vintage 1920s Style Wedding at Skylight in Denver

I know I’m always saying how excited I am to share photos on the journal because I am always loving all of the new photos I get to create with my clients, but today I am especially excited to share this wedding with the world. Poor Matt & James have been waiting so patiently for me to get their wedding photos online and I’m pleased to finally get to share these with them! I first met them when I photographed their beautiful fall color mountain engagement session in Evergreen. This was back in 2019 and back then, we did not know that Covid was on the way to shake up the world and all of our lives. But, they weren’t actually planning their wedding for 2020, they were planning it for 2021 and that obviously ended up being a great decision on their part. So two years later, these two adorable gentlemen have tied the knot and are officially married! They got married at Skylight which is a really cool urban wedding venue located in the heart of the Santa Fe Arts District. This space has such a cool modern look with wood beams and string lights hanging overhead and of course, a huge skylight as the name suggests there would be.  I particularly love the white brick walls (so great for bouncing natural light around) and the huge windows.  Also, their getting ready room is very pretty.

I also have to do a virtual round of applause for all of their family and friends who ran with the theme and really went all out with their attire. Everyone looked so fabulous and I loved seeing all of the glitz and sparkle and fancy hairdos. Speaking of sparkle, Matt and James both wore crowns and I loved that fun whimsical touch. I would love to see more grooms liven up their wedding day attire. It was also pretty cool that when we did a short look in the alley to find some fun stuff to use for their photos right around sunset we found a couple of fun murals featuring some colorful animals also wearing crowns.

Matt & James, you two are the best for being so patient with me during what is by far the strangest, most busy season I’ve ever had. I truly appreciate it. Without further ado, here are some of my personal favorites from your wedding day! Enjoy:)
