Early June Sunset Wedding at Sapphire Point in Colorado
I’m so excited to share Kate & Don’s wedding on the journal today because it was such a gorgeous evening at Sapphire Point. Kate and I chatted back in January about her wedding day and originally I found that they were thinking about doing their ceremony there a little earlier in the day. Sapphire Point reserves the little circular shaped pull out along the path for 2 hour blocks of time throughout the day and it’s become one of the most popular elopement spots in Colorado because of its beautiful mountain views.
When we were talking, she mentioned the Dillon Ranger District also had the very last slot open that day for a reservation and I just had to put in my photographer .02 that it would be the most ideal time to do it for the pretty sunset light. However, it’s tough during summer because the sun doesn’t set until about 8:30 so that makes dinner planning tricky so I was completely prepared to hear that they were going to stick with their original earlier time frame because I understand that a wedding day is not just about the photos. But, I was pretty stoked when she told me they went for the sunset wedding time because it allowed me to create these gorgeous photos below for them. As you can see, we started off with the super bright sunny light and then it just got more and more pretty as we got closer to their ceremony. They timed their ceremony perfectly to take place about 15-20 minutes before sunset and I just love how it all turned out. The light lasted quite long that evening and with the help of my own additional light we were able to get some pretty cool photos during sunset and dusk. Check out some of my personal favorites below!
