Wedding Vow Renewal Celebration in Colorado
I’m thrilled to share this beautiful Colorado vow renewal photography because it’s for a friend of mine that I made when playing roller derby at the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls. If you’ve been a long time reader of my journal, you probably recognize these two because I’ve done many cute photoshoots with them and their sweet doggies throughout the years.
Jackie & Chris recently celebrated 20 years of marriage and they decided to host a fun celebration to acknowledge their love and commitment to each other and renew the vows that they promised all of those years ago. They were so young back then and weren’t able to host the wedding celebration of their dreams and I’m so glad that 20 years later (exactly to the day!) they got to splurge on the reception party of their dreams that they weren’t able to do back in the day.
They hosted their Colorado vow renewal at a place called Ashley Ridge down in Littleton. I loved their gorgeous green boho reception decor with nods to various mountain peaks in Colorado. These two have lived all over the world together due to Chris’s military career but they’ve been in Colorado for quite some time now and it’s really become home for them and a place where they have cultivated many great friendships. It was so nice to see how many people took time from work and traveled to Colorado to come celebrate their 20 years of marriage with them.
I love that they even got to incorporate a little bit of one of Jackie’s favorite pastimes by including some good old fashioned roller skating as part of their dance floor shenanigans. But, my favorite part of the day was definitely getting to witness the actual vow renewal. First, they opted to see each other for the first time just minutes before walking down the aisle together and things got emotional real quick from there. And then getting to hear their sweet words to each other at the actual vow renewal on the outdoor paver patio with views of the pretty blue Colorado mountains off in the distance was perfection even if it did start to sprinkle on us toward the end. I just celebrated 10 years of marriage (though we’ve been together for 17 years) with my husband Geoff in May and it was so special and inspiring to get to witness Jackie & Chris renew their wedding vows. They are quite obviously still in love, but they so clearly showcase the deep respect and admiration that they have for one another that you can’t help but acknowledge what a key ingredient it is for a long and happy marriage.
