elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Sunrise Amphitheater Wedding Boulder | Wedding Reception at D-Barn in Longmont

October 11, 2015

I have been looking forward to photographing Danielle & Jarred’s Sunrise Amphitheater wedding in Boulder for over a year now. When we first met they told me that they were planning for their wedding to be a little bit off the beaten path. They planned to run the whole ceremony themselves at the beautiful Sunrise Amphitheater which looks out over the entire city of Boulder and beyond. They incorporated their closest friends and family by having them do short readings about what creates a good marriage and all built a cairn together. Building a cairn was a great way for these two outdoor enthusiasts to acknowledge their love of hiking and the great outdoors into their wedding ceremony. I also really love that they were able to have their adorable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel decked out in his own doggie tux hang out with them throughout the day:) Before the ceremony began, we drove up Flagstaff Mountain just a little farther to get some photos at the beautiful Lost Gulch Overlook. Danielle and Jarred chose to do a first look and this was a really pretty location for that.

After the ceremony we drove to Longmont where the historic D-Barn is located on Main Street. They did a really great job with the DIY decor of their wedding and with the help of their day of wedding coordinator, Amelia Metzger from Alegre Kreations the inside of the barn looked beautiful. I particularly liked their pretty tied ribbon photobooth backdrop. And the pretty cloth napkins all hand-tied for the BBQ dinner was a nice touch too. Overall, it was a lovely day for a sweet and simple wedding celebration for two laid-back people in love.
