I am pretty pumped to share this family’s photos on the journal today because they turned out so nicely! It was probably my last session I did where the fall color was still hanging on outside. Debbie, the matriarch of this family, liked the look of Chautauqua Park and Lost Gulch Overlook so we paired the two locations in one session. We started off at Chautauqua and looked around the dining hall and met in the garden behind that building to use as much of the color that was left as we could. We made sure to catch a variety of different family combinations during the session and before we left Chautauqua, we walked down onto the green circle lawn to get a couple of photos of the family with the flatirons in the backdrop. After all, that view is to Boulder as the Eiffel Tower is to Paris!
From there, I had them follow me up Flagstaff Road past Flagstaff House and past the Sunrise Ampitheater area to try and get a good spot for their last family photos before sunset. Miraculously, it wasn’t already overrun with people and so we were able to get some great vantage points and views for them. As sunset neared, the place filled in with more people and we finished up our photos for the night as the weather turned even more chilly. It’s such a popular place these days that I can’t guarantee we’ll be able to use the best sections so I am pretty thrilled with what we were able to get this evening when we pretty much had it to ourselves for a solid 20 minutes! That was a really nice lucky break and I just have to take the time to be grateful for the little things. I’ve selected some of my favorites and have shared them below. Thank you all for looking!
