Garden of the Gods Family Photos in Colorado Springs
This journal entry features some Garden of the Gods family photos. This is one of my favorite family sessions in recent memory just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. The sky was completely on fire with incredible shades of pink and orange (look at the beautiful sunset photo!) throughout the session due to a winter storm about to roll in. This family was so much fun to work with too. They went along with all of my silly questions and prompts and we got great photos of them together because of it! We recreated one of their classic family poses that’s become a tradition for them at their photoshoots. It’s a piggy-back pose but not shown here. I love that they were able to get their special pose in front of the beautiful Colorado mountains.
Autumn Family Portraits at High Point Overlook
We also somehow managed to snag two of the last parking spots at the High Point Overlook area of Garden of the Gods. This area is one of my favorite sections of the park where you can walk around on the red rock formations pretty easily without actually doing any real rock climbing. It was a Saturday afternoon so the park was super full of people visiting but we managed to make it look like they were the only ones there. I was a little worried as we first drove in because I saw some orange construction fencing near the area I really love to end my Garden of the Gods photo sessions at, but luckily that was only in one small section. We were still able to get the classic photo of their family with the red rock sandstone formations stacked up in front of the beautiful blue mountains with Pikes Peak taking center stage. We were about to pack it in for the evening but then the sky suddenly just became so beautiful and full of bright color and I had to capture one last photo of them with the sky illuminated behind them. It was such a great session that I had a really hard time deciding what to share here in their sneak peek. So I went ahead and just made a big one.
