The blog has been a little quieter than usual these past few weeks and I used that time to catch up on all of the retouching for the various sessions I did this past fall. I’m pleased that I’m now getting started on my holiday season family photo push. Every year things get a little quiet in mid-November-early December and then when everyone starts getting together for the holidays I get to make my way out into the winter weather for family photos while everyone is all together. This December, I get to kick off the holiday family photos with this sweet family that I met through playing roller derby. Meghan started as a player and then transitioned into being a kick ass referee and also ended up being a coach as well! She got in touch with me to see if I could photographer her boyfriend and his kids as well as her cute corgi dog, Wookie.
I have a handful of locations near the Denver metro area that I really like to use during winter when we are lacking snow on the ground. There is not much growing outside during December so I suggested that the west wide of Mount Falcon at the Castle Trail would be a good spot for us to meet for these. There is a nice pine forest there and excellent mountain views so we aren’t as dependent upon snow and plant life to add visual interest in the pictures. Plus their plaid outfits really looked awesome in this scenery. I think they look full of holiday spirit even with no snow on the grouind. I didn’t want them to freeze too much so we schedule only an hour before sunset so we wouldn’t be waiting outdoors for too long. I loved photographing these kids. They were super sweet and the little gal was full of fun energy. Her dad has his hands full for sure, but in the best way!
Meghan, I hope you all love these! Happy Holidays to you and your family!
