Blended Family Photos at Fox Run Regional Park in Colorado Springs
These Colorado blended family photos on the journal today are a little bit different from the ones that I normally share because this family is blending their families together soon and they wanted a photography session done to celebrate it. This couple is getting married early next year and in the process they will be officially combining their family together. I love this idea because a family photography session with me is not just staring at the camera and smiling (although we definitely do that a little bit). We play games together and I ask them tons of silly questions designed to make things fun and get some smiles out of them. It’s really a great chance to spend some quality time together as a family.

For their session, their mom, Ellie, mentioned that she really wanted some trees at the session and talked about potentially doing these at Fox Run Regional Park. I jumped at the chance because I’ve never photographed there before and the photos online looked beautiful. I love photography locations with pretty forest scenery to use! I got there early to scope it out and get a plan in my head for which areas to use. Of course, I didn’t realize how large the park truly is and that there were two different playground areas so it took us a few extra minutes to find each other. But, we had scheduled plenty of time to catch the gorgeous sunset light streaming in through all of the trees. This forest scenery is so simple but with the light leaking in from behind the trees it really gave it a rather ethereal look to some of their pictures which I love! We made sure to catch their engaged parents together of course and the kids together as well as separately. I love the variety we were able to get at their session. We were even able to get a tiny sliver of mountain view which isn’t easy at this tree covered location! Some of my favorites are featured below.
