Family Photos at City Park in Denver Colorado
Today I’m featuring some Denver City Park family photos for a little change of pace from all of my fall color sessions done in the mountains. I met this fun family last year when we met up down in Colorado Springs at Garden of the Gods for their family pictures. This year they wanted to stick a little more close to home due to their busy work and school schedules so we decided to meet at City Park on the east side of Denver. I have always loved City Park so much. It was one of the first outdoor spaces I really spent time in when I first moved to Denver at the tender age of 18. I would go running around the lake when I wasn’t busy working and taking classes at Metro (and let’s be real, partying with my friends, haha) I no longer live on the east side of town so my days of running around Lake Ferril are over and I’ve replaced them with roller skating around Sloans Lake instead. But, I still love when I get a chance to take in a beautiful sunset with that iconic Denver skyline stacked up in front of the mountains.

We started over on the northwest side of the park because there is a cool exit with these huge stone pillars that I really love. But once we got that photo I had them follow me over to the east side of City Park where there is a row of lilac bushes and some other cool plant and trees to use. I was pretty shocked to find that the rose garden was looking good because the Japanese beetles have really gone to town on all of the roses I’ve seen in Denver. However, they were looking pretty darn good so we ended up getting a handful of photos for their family there at the end of the session. And of course, I made sure to catch a photo of them in front of the lake with the boat house and fountain off in the distance. This is such an awesome photo to get for Denver families because this view also features the iconic cash register building in the Denver skyline and the faint outline of mountains too.
