elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Colorado Family Photos with Dogs

Colorado Family Photos with Dogs on Squaw Pass Road Evergreen

Today’s blog is featuring some Colorado family photos with dogs at my favorite Denver metro area portrait location on Squaw Pass Road.  Donna got in touch to say that she really wanted to get some photos created with her parents and possibly their 2 dogs. She loves to be out in nature and was hoping to find a place with some pretty aspen trees so of course, I mentioned the Beaver Brook Watershed Trailhead on Squaw Pass Road as the perfect location for her.  This location boasts tons of beautiful aspen tree groves with pretty mature aspen trees considering how close to Denver it is. And I love that they decided to bring their two adorable little dogs with them. Our furry friends hold such a special place in our hearts and I think it makes total sense to treat them like the member of the family that they are and bring them to the family photo session.

Outdoor Doggie Family Pictures in Colorado Mountains

When we met for their pictures in the mountains of Evergreen, the fall color was only just beginning to show.  It was still pretty green at the meadow, but along Squaw Pass Road, there were more golden areas so we didn’t stay at the meadow.  We stopped along a couple of other areas of the road where we could squeeze our cars off safely to catch a little bit more of the color.  Donna and her parents were really good sports about doing all of my ideas and I love all of the smiles we were able to get. My favorite thing about doing family photos is that it’s not just about creating nice pictures.  It’s also about simply spending time together as a family and enjoying each other’s company. That’s exactly what we did at this session. Check out my favorites below!
