elcome to the journal for April O’Hare Photography! Here you’ll find all of my latest photographic outings with the couples, families, seniors and small businesses that I get to work with and make beautiful photographs for. You may also see a personal post here and there discussing my life or my travels with my teeny family of one husband and three cats! Sometimes I even write advice articles with tips to help make your photo experience better which you can check out under the “Educational” category.

Take your time and look around! Type in the place where you’ll be getting married in the search box to see if I’ve photographed there before. At the bottom of the page I’ve highlighted some of my favorite sessions and weddings from the past. Grab a drink and have fun going down the photo rabbit hole!

Colorado Generation Family Photography at East Mount Falcon Trailhead in Morrison

July 13, 2018

It wasn’t too long ago (late December to be exact) that I photographed this family at their beautiful home in the foothills. So I was a little surprised but not unhappy to hear from them again so soon! Turns out they wanted to do some more family photos, but this time they were looking to get some generational family portraits together with the matriarch of their family. I absolutely love to see these kinds of family photos be created because in our busy lives it’s not always easy to get the family all together in one place. I thought it was a really sweet idea to go ahead and schedule something for just the females this time and focus on their relationships. And of course, photographing little Lulu is such a hoot. I love her little mischievous grin and the way that she’ll suddenly flash a little pout when she’s not pleased with something. Of course, part of this was probably because the sun sets so late in the summer and one year old bedtimes get pushed back a little bit, but it’s worth it to get that dreamy light in the evening.

As with so many of the days we’ve been having this summer, the day we met was a complete scorcher. I think we were in the one hundred degree range that day so it was good to schedule it right before sunset due to the heat regardless of the light. I also suggest the east trail head of Mount Falcon in Morrison because you can get pretty great scenery (Red Rocks Amphitheater backdrop anyone?) with almost zero effort. Most of these were taken within steps of the parking lot making it super easy to use. After all, who wants to go hiking when it’s over 100 degrees outside? I’ve selected a handful of my favorite photos from the evening to share with the world below. Enjoy!
