Colorado Rainbow Wedding Inspired by Hawaiian Culture
I have been dying to show off this beautiful Colorado rainbow wedding for a few weeks now, but it’s mid-July and that means that I’m wearing my crazy pants trying to keep on top of the wedding pile. I met Theresa in roller derby (surprise right? I pretty much meet everyone there these days!) She doesn’t skate with Rocky Mountain anymore, but I keep holding out hope that her schedule will free up some more and she’ll come back to us. (Maybe now that the wedding is over?! Heavy hint) Theresa and Paul obviously poured so much love and thought into the planning of their Colorado rainbow wedding that it was very hard for me to narrow down all of the awesome shots we got for the post. They picked my favorite hotel in Denver to photograph in (The Hotel Monaco) as the place where they would get ready for the day and when prep time was over, everyone headed out to St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church on 23rd and York for the ceremony. After the mass, they held their pretty Hawaiian inspired rainbow wedding reception up in Evergreen at the Evergreen Lake House where they paddled into their reception via paddleboat:) And, they didn’t just pick one or two colors for their wedding. They went with the whole rainbow. And poor Paul folded up so many cranes I’m sure he’d be happy to never see another piece of origami paper in his whole life again. The highlight for me was seeing Theresa dance the hula for her father since it was his birthday. It was so emotional and beautiful that I teared up. I felt kind of embarrassed until I looked around the room and I swear there was not a single dry eye in the room. Bravo Theresa!
Theresa and Paul,
Thank you so much for having me as your wedding photographer. It was incredibly fun getting to work with both of you and I feek like I got to know you better as well:) I will never forget getting the chance to explore the open sky in a balloon with both of you and I sincerely hope you have many more exciting and fun times ahead!
xoxo

Hard not to smile at a bride as pretty as Theresa!
Father Stan gives the blessing before eating
Paul gave Theresa one of the nicest compliments I’ve heard a groom give his bride in a long time when I took this shot of her. “You look like the First Lady!” I couldn’t agree more. Theresa looks absolutely royal here:)
The wetland boardwalk is such a nice spot for pictures:)
Got a lucky break and caught this before he flew away.
Pictures don’t show the full beauty of Theresa’s Hula dance. Luckily she had Rising Moon capturing it all on video:)

Theresa and Paul made sure the kids had some goodies to keep them entertained.
Can you tell that Theresa’s sis was dancing to Footloose? I think you can! π
How cute are Theresa’s parents? Her dad is Hawaiian.

I just want to say what a great wedding photographer you are! I feel like I am right there at the wedding while viewing these stunning photos.
The bride is GORGEOUS!! and I LOVE her rainbow colors…what a fabulous idea and so beautiful! The far away shot of the couple at the altar in the church is so beautiful.
I love the one of the couple on the boardwalk (full body pose) right before the bird.
Looks like a fantastic day with the wedding group!
wow! these are so beautiful! LOVE her veil, the origami, and all the details that make this wedding stand out. but i so love the way you captured everything. gorgeous!
I am SPEECHLESS! Though it was only less than a month ago, these pictures take me back (seriously…they TRANSPORT us!) back to our wedding day and with it comes all the insanely happy, heartfelt moments we experienced. This means the world to our friends, families, and especially Paul and I since we are spread out all over the world and have to rely on pictures a bit more than a typical family/group of friends do.
April, THANK YOU for your kind words and for once again, doing what you do so well–a phenomenal job capturing a whirlwind event (first time being a pretty epic balloon ride first for all of us!)…especially those little moments that we didn’t have enough eyes or time to catch ourselves (I.e. these hilarious dance moves and the goldfish that Paul just met, “That was in our room?”–haha!)
Hands down the happiest day of our lives.
Wow, gorgeous!! Love your attention to detail and all the pictures are so vivid and beautiful! Great work!!
Hahahaha…Theresa, he was probably so enamored of you that he didn’t notice some random goldfish in the room.
What I want to know is, can you take it home with you like you can take soap and shampoo?
