Pretty Winter Family Photos in the Colorado Snow
Tonight I get to share some beautiful Colorado snow family photos from the weekend up in Evergreen. The last time I photographed this good-looking couple, we were photographing their engagement photos down in the Ridgway area. Since that time, they’ve gotten married, moved to a new state, and started their family. Their son is such a cutie and I was feeling pretty glad that we figured out the magic trick to get him to smile for some of these. It involves a whole lot of being jostled around upside down, haha. It definitely seemed to do the trick and we got some great smiles out of him even with the chilly weather.
Aspen Tree Meadow Family Portraits with Winter Sunset Mountain Backdrop
We were looking to get some pictures with a nice snowy mountain backdrop and to keep costs down we opted to stick to a location a little closer to Denver where I am based. Luckily we’ve been getting more snowfall than what seems normal to me so we didn’t have to trek far into the mountains to find some pretty snow like I sometimes find necessary. We headed up to my favorite little mountain meadow on Squaw Pass Road for these. We started off on the path near the aspen tree grove to get some of the nice aspen tree trunks in the photos and ended up heading up the road a little bit for that glorious sunset mountain view. I used this location a ton this year during the summer and fall but I’ve actually never photographed it with snow on the ground. I was so happy to find that it was just as beautiful up there even with the fall color long gone. I loved that they decided to bring grandma and his uncle as well as their sweet dog, Charlie to the session too. Afterall, it’s nice to capture family all together when living so far away. Below is a small selection of my favorites from this session.
