Crested Butte Wedding Photographer

I am a Crested Butte wedding photographer with a gorgeous summer wedding to share on the blog today! I have been so excited about Carole & Chad’s wedding ever since we first met up to discuss it last fall at New Terrain Brewery in Golden. They were such an easy going and fun couple to meet with so obviously I was already on board, but knowing that it was going to take place in Crested Butte, Colorado had me very excited too. It’s definitely one of those places where you have a to make it a point to visit since it’s a bit off the beaten path and you don’t really drive through it to get anywhere else. And I’m also one of those “Almost-Natives” who isn’t super into winter sports because I’m kind of a baby about the cold and it’s hard to find the time to go up when it’s not for work. But Crested Butte during the summer is a gorgeous little slice of heaven right here on earth! When you are there, every direction you turn is beautiful because you are literally surrounded by beautiful mountain views on all sides. And of course, Carole and Chad’s wedding was in July which is prime wildflower season too so the rolling hills are covered in them.

Slate River First Look at Summer Wedding in Crested Butte

We did their first look and some portraits by the Slate River near the Oh Be Joyful recreation area and we also found a pretty cool little spot to get the iconic Crested Butte mountain in the backdrop for some of the photos near Peanut Lake. The ceremony took place at the beautiful Mountain Wedding Garden at Crested Butte’s Town Hall over on the ski resort side of town. It was a gorgeous place to say their vows in front of their family and friends and my only regret was that we didn’t have much time for portraits there due to the incoming rain storm. But it held off for the ceremony so I can’t complain too much. The reception was held at Bonez which is a super cool looking tequila bar and restaurant right in the heart of downtown Crested Butte. I have to give huge props to Carole and Chad’s wedding planner, Ciera Freson from Lucky Penny for being so down to earth and easy to work with but also getting the job done! It’s not easy to find both qualities in a wedding planner! She and her assistant even managed to get all of the guests lined up perfectly outside of Bonez for a super cute confetti send off with Mt. Crested Butte in the backdrop. That was probably one of my favorite parts of the day since it’s always hilarious to see all of the people who love the couple, “attack” them with pretty sparkly things! And it couldn’t have happened in a prettier place!

After the reception, we had originally planned to take the Red Lady Express Lift up the mountain to end the day with a few more epic portraits, but by this point, the rain was getting increasingly insistent upon itself and so we opted to just stick to getting a handful around the downtown area of Crested Butte before we called it a day.

And what an incredible day it was! Congratulations, Carole & Chad! I hope you enjoy your time as newlyweds this next year. And I will always be grateful to you both for choosing me to be your Crested Butte wedding photographer. What a wonderful place to celebrate love!
